Steward Rhodes charged with seditious conspiracy

Well, as the OP posted about Elmer Rhodes and his merry band of Oathkeepers, let's continue examing the predictment of these 'in-deep-feces' folks.

Today's New York Times has excellent reportage....mostly taken from the documents released this week from the DOJ that offers a timeline on what these KevlarQueens did prior to January 6th. It is an interesting read.

The DOJ paints a pretty damning picture of their intentions and their planning for those intentions.
(FYI.....they were NOT there as 'tourists', or 'demonstrators', or in any sort of 'LoveFest' mood.)

'Seditious Conspiracy' requires the government to show that at least two people conspired to overthrow the government ...or.... delay the execution of a U.S. law. And these 11 ( Rhodes, Meggs, Harrelson, Watkins, Hackett, Moerschel, James, Minuta, Ulrich, Caldwell and Vellejo) are now accused of:
  • Recruiting participants;
  • Organizing training in para-military combat;
  • Cooridinating travel, teams, and logistics
  • Bringing weapons to the Washington DC area in order to carry out the conspiracy.

And the Times pulls from the charging documents these quotes from the Oathkeeper leadership: (FYI --Those Oathkeepers thought all their communications were encrypted. But alas........)

Rhodes: "We aren't getting through this without a civil war....Prepare your mind, body, and spirit".
Rhodes: "I do want some Oathkeeprs to stay on the outside, and to stay fully armed and prepared to go in armed......."
Rhodes: "It will be a bloody and desperate fight. We are going to have to fight. That can't be avoided."

Communications to, from, and by other Oathkeepers --- Meggs, Watkins, Caldwell, were revealed from their encrypted communications.

Elmer Stewart Rhodes...bought arms and ammunition ($22,000+ in the week before January 6th) that were shipped or transported to a designated hotel just across the river in Virginia. There, those arms along with individual arms of various teams, were designated for a 'QRF'....a Quick Reaction Force' under the charge of Ed Vallejo.

Watkins: "Where can we drop off weaons to the QRF team? I'd like to have the weapons secured prior to the OP tomorrow."

Caldwell: (distributing maps) "These maps walk you from the hotel into DC and east towards the target area on multiple roads..."

On January 6th: 'Most defendants entered the restricted Capitol grounds or the Capitol itself, actions tht were later included as part of the sediton charges. Mr. Vallejo and other remained at the hotel, awaiting a call to bring weapons.'

ps....there have been a gaggle of posts and posters who have asserted that this 'Oathkeeper' stuff is fake news. Charges will be dropped; or suggesting a trial by jury is needed; and/or all will be acquitted.

Well, OK. Those opinions are out there. I get it.

But......but, after reading today's Times' piece, ...my money ain't gonna be wagered on these folks escaping without paying a heavy price in freedom, criminal record, and money.

Betcha.

"Seditious conspiracy" does have a nice ring to it. For this guy and probably more to come in the future.

This was never about the rubes, the misguided pawns who stormed the capitol. This is about something else.

okey dokey.

i've admitted several times on this here board that a good deal of them ended up doing prison time. why would i say that i have voted for them if it wasn't true. take yer MAGA hat off & go find yer critical thinking cap on to figure it out.

What did the FBI find with Giordano's Records?
While investigating municipal corruption, the FBI discovered phone records and pictures of Giordano with a prostitute, as well as with her 10-year-old niece and her eight-year-old daughter.

As a critical thinker, you should realize you just went full red herring on this topic, relevant to the 'seditious insurrectionalists' that we've been discussing....you know, happened on January 6. 2021...not 1996 or 2015.

trolls never give back up to what they claim ... or give unbiased sources.

therefore i am not a troll ....

troll.
Uh......you need to work on that. BYU study works here too.

New BYU research recently published in the journal of Social Media and Society sheds light on the motives and personality characteristics of internet trolls.

Through an online survey completed by over 400 Reddit users, the study found that individuals with dark triad personality traits (narcissism, Machiavellianism, psychopathy) combined with schadenfreude – a German word meaning that one derives pleasure from another’s misfortune – were more likely to demonstrate trolling behaviors.

“People who exhibit those traits known as the dark triad are more likely to demonstrate trolling behaviors if they derive enjoyment from passively observing others suffer,” said Dr. Pamela Brubaker, BYU public relations professor and co-author of the study. “They engage in trolling at the expense of others.”

The research, which was co-authored by BYU communications professor Dr. Scott Church and former BYU graduate Daniel Montez, found that individuals who experienced pleasure from the failures or shortcomings of others considered trolling to be acceptable online behavior. Women who participated in the survey viewed trolling as dysfunctional while men were more likely to view it as functional.

“This behavior may happen because it feels appropriate to the medium,” said Church. “So, heavy users of the platform may feel like any and all trolling is ‘functional’ simply because it’s what people do when they go on Reddit.”

A troll is Internet slang for a person who intentionally tries to instigate conflict, hostility, or arguments in an online social community. Platforms targeted by trolls can include the comment sections of YouTube, forums, or chat rooms.

Trolls often use inflammatory messages to provoke emotional responses out of people, disrupting otherwise civil discussion. Trolling can occur anywhere that has an open area where people can freely post their thoughts and opinions.

You just claimed that no one believes it was an insurrection, jackass.

Well, good poster 'bripat'.......if you won't claim that January 6th was an 'insurrection', are you all in on the charges that it was a 'seditious conspiracy'?

If you are claiming that.....well, why?
Or, if not....why not?

Why should I support either claim? They are both prog propaganda, and nothing more.

What is that something else, turd?

You just claimed that no one believes it was an insurrection, jackass.
So you must have elected a dictator then.

What is an example of insurrection?

The definition of an insurrection is a rise against government authority or a revolt. An example of an insurrection is a rebel protest against a dictatorship. An organized opposition to an authority; a mutiny; a rebellion.

You realize, under this definition, all those 'riots' that went on in various parts of the country, destroying all kinds of public property, are 'acts of insurrection' just not in the leftist dictionary.

Why should I support either claim?

So, accordingly.....you are denying that it was an insurrection?
Why?

ps......did you get a chance to read the linked New York Times reportage?
What did you think of it, after you read it?

Of course they did just as in thousands of marches and demonstrations of millions of people in US history against injustices and to enact changes such as
the Women's Suffrage March of 1913, and the Martin Luther King demonstration at the Lincoln Memorial. The difference is that none of these demonstrations was an attempt to undermine the power and authority of the US government.
Herbert Hoover knew the truth about Martin Luther King, he was a communist.

You can't even define it in a way that rules out Anifia and the BLM, douchebag. The term "sedition" is virtually meaningless.

Of course I'm denying it. Why would anyone support it? You've been given a thousand reasons on this website why it's not sedition.

But yet he did nothing about it while he was President!

True, Martin Luther King was only 3years old when Hoover was in office.
Still.......he coulda done something!
FDR knew that Harry Hopkins was a communist spy. What did he do about that?
