Joel Chandler wrote those stories. As A child I lived right down the street from The Chandler House in West Atlanta, GA.
Years later, I took my grandkids to hear a young black woman at story time tell his stories.

In my head this morning and as a teen in the 70s the local radio station played it every morning at 7:00 AM. You could set your watch by it.
