I look at the cancel culture and what their ultimate goal is.
And I think of everything this country had experienced over
the last 250 years and what we've learned as a nation.
We have learned from our history and moved forward to
become the most powerful nation in history. But, our legs are
being swept from underneath and we are now in decline.

Very true

Republicans are trying to whitewash history
Don’t say anything that will hurt white peoples feelings
Yeah, I see all those republicans tearing down statues
and removing books from the schools libraries. :rolleyes-41:

revisionist history isnt history,,,

if real history was taught we would all know at the very same time blacks were being brought here whites were being taken into africa as slave which still continues to this day,,

What Democrat in Florida is removing books from school libraries?
I just see Republicans doing that. I also see Republicans squashing the discussion
of history in Florida, Arkansas, and Texas.

I don't want statues of traitors standing either.

LOL. Oh shit, another alt-right reactionary. So glad you just and righteous patriots are manning the front lines of removing history from school libraries.

You just keep telling yourself that over and over, patriot. God, you people are sheep. A special kind of stupid.
I don't see any pervy books in this list, patriot. Guess you're gonna have to make a stand on another bridge.

none of them are banned,, just not allowed in schools like so many other books

everyone has a limit on what children should be taught or allowed to read in public schools,, if you want your children to read those you are free to get them and read them to your kids,,

It is a direct attempt to not only suppress the discussion of history (because it makes parents uncomfortable), but it's also a direct attempt at indoctrination by forcing schools to keep a reading list that the state approves.
Hmmm..I seem to remember some dudes in Germany in the 1930's that did something similar.
How'd that work out?

Don't give in to the weakness of pessimism and defeatism.

Great advice. Not so easy for everyone to follow. To drown in nihilism is the prevailing trend blowing cold and damp, rotting the souls of many; surrender to apathy is false comfort for many.

Good bit by Bill Maher is relevant to this discussion.

The looniest of the left, which is becoming a larger minority all the time if not already a majority, does tear down statues and removes historical novels and serious history books from school libraries when they don't fit the narrative of the radical left these days.

But to view history from ANY perspective other than through the eyes of those who lived it is to get most of it wrong. Yes our values, mores and moral attitudes change over time, and I'm sure future students of history will judge some of those of our time as harshly as we do some of those of our ancestors. But a people's culture is what it is and to judge the people living it outside that culture is to do them a great disservice as well as well as largely miseducate those living now.

Example: Juan de Onate y Salazar was an important figure in the Spanish colonization of the southwest, especially New Mexico. There are (or have been) numerous statues and other historical mentions of him around the state. Going past the statue or other historical markers, we parents were told and taught our children some of that history of which there were some very bad things that happened. Almost all those markers have been removed now due to PC, and those prompts to teach and learn are no longer there.

But all that history, the good and the terrible, happened and whether it was embraced or condemned it is part of the story of a people who eventually became us. To remove those historical markers removes opportunity to be informed, ask questions, learn from that history.

It's like we've got a whole bunch of Jimmy Carters around here wallowing in malaise.

history is being discussed everyday,, what isnt being included in that history is that even white people were taken as slave in africa as well as here by the american indians,,

what youre complaining about is a revisionist history that directs the oppressive being only white people when the truth is all races enslaved other races including their own,,

and you mentor from 1930s germany banned books from all walks of life as well as silencing people that disagreed with him like the dems are doing as we speak,,,
