Then what happened? Reagan quickly discovered that his own rhetoric (and resulting policy) was, in fact, terrible and unrealistic. So what did he do to save his legacy and the economy? He raised taxes and greatly expanded the government.

Trump will learn this same lesson, when it comes to his trade wars of vanity.
