Something has got to be done about the police.

If you think the police should be trained to kill without reservation then you're out of your fucking mind.

I’ve never seen or heard of a “Bad Shooting”. But maybe the 300lb 12 yr old in CLEVE playing with a toy gun and neihbors called the Police at dusk in the rain also. Tragedy but I don’t fault the Police. How did they know? They responded to panicked neighbors in an APT complex. You try the job.

Until ZERO Police are assasinated, I give them Carte blanche. Again you go up a stairwell at 2AM in DET looking for a possibly armed male.

The issue was #police killed by criminals versus # criminals killed by police. That would give a context of relative dangers to LEO per country.

Also, ratio of killed per total # of police gives a better gauge on safety vs. danger in each nation

Big "Duh!" on more police killed here than those other nations. Again it's more a matter of ratio than total number, for one factor. Another factor is degree to which the suspects police deal with are armed or able to threaten the police.

Those three Euro nations don't have a Second Amendment and hence much small population armed with firearms. Actually they are more the example that mostly criminals will have firearms than regular citizens.

Bottom line is you examples are comparing apples to potatoes and have little relevance to each other.
So far this year 59 police have died while on duty. 21 by gunfire.

They have killed 438 people

The 2019 Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study showed that from 1980-2018, police in the United States killed 30,800 people. During this same time police killed 293,000 people worldwide. Despite the U.S. having 4 percent of the global population, American law enforcement was responsible for more than 13 percent of all police killings in the world.

There are no excuses for police behavior.

A reminder that "police"/LEO are not drafted into the job. It remains a voluntary occupation~career path. Higher the standard, without corresponding higher compensation, the lower the numbers likely seeking that position.

Not everywhere is using "second hand hires". I know my county doesn't.

You would rather we recruited from AntiFa and BLM, etc.

Most police/sheriff departments offer citizen ride along programs. I recommend you check in you local residence area and see if there is such and do the ride along a few times. Get a view of the real situation faced by LEO.
Average police salary is $65,000 per year.

I don't need to ride along. We live on the streets the cops patrol. I was a social worker son. I have dealt with ex cons, drug addicts, etc. There is simply no excuse for what they are doing.

You talk about ANTIFA and BLM but the problem with many police departments is this.

It's just getting ridiculous. There has to be national standards created for policing. That's all there is to it.

Police pressured him to confess to a murder that never happened. Now, Fontana will pay him $900,000

The city of Fontana has agreed to pay nearly $900,000 to settle a federal lawsuit filed by a man who said police pressured him to falsely confess to a murder that never happened.

During a 17-hour interrogation in August 2018, Fontana Police Department officers questioned Thomas Perez Jr. about the disappearance of his father, whom Perez had reported missing. Officers alleged Perez had murdered his father and, when Perez denied the accusation, officers tried to convince him that he had forgotten the crime, according to a federal lawsuit, court records and video of the interrogation.

Throughout their lengthy questioning of Perez, officers used a variety of tactics aimed at goading him into confessing. They brought his dog into the interrogation room, told him the dog had walked through blood and would be sent away to be euthanized. They drove Perez to a dirt lot and asked him to walk around in search of his dad’s body. They told him that his father’s body was in a morgue.

“You murdered your dad,” one of the officers said, according to video of the interrogation. “Daddy’s dead because of you.”

At the 16-hour mark, Perez told police that he had gotten into an altercation with his father and had stabbed him.

But a major problem with that confession soon emerged: Perez’s father was alive and safe.

Why are Democrat run cities such racist cesspits?

Why is he too stupid to keep his mouth shut and get a lawyer?

Yep remove leftist Da's and judges that will allow the guilty to walk free and the police will not have to shoot repeat offenders

OMG!

Back to beating the same dead horse! ...

For a start, let us know where you live and where this "insight"-"perspective" of yours was formed and we might have a clue of actual data to respond to.
Your tendency to engage gross and vague enuendos makes the majority of your posts invalid.

You might live on the streets the "cops" patrol, but that isn't the same as trying to be "in their shoes" to get a more accurate perspective. Yes you DO NEED TO DO A RIDE ALONG to experience~get a vague clue on what it's like to always be on edge of being a target that could be bushwhacked at any moment.

Also, consider applying for and doing the job yourself if you can handle it and qualify (which I doubt).

I presented AntiFa and BLM as the alternate to legal and authorized Law Enforcement since both have and continue to be groups that think they are above existing laws and get make their own laws.

BTW, that "average police" salary is nationwide, which has quite a range, and doesn't include that in many localities LEO is understaffed and the officers have to put in significant overtime. Extra pay for OT doesn't offset the stress and wear load!

As for your link, try and get more "non-whites" to qualify and apply for the jobs. Also understand that the "far-right" is counter to a "far Left Stasi *" alternative.

Those stats overlook the many other governmental agencies not technically classified as "police" or "law enforcement"; such as religious (Islamic regimes) and ideological compliance enforcers (communist-socialist regimes) which would add more to the non-USA toll.
That aside, need to balance against the higher crime rates we have in the USA.

If their job is more dangerous, then they should be required to go through more training.

Agree or disagree?
OMG!
The purpose of education is to teach one how to continue to teach themselves.
All Life and any career path is most effective if pursued with ongoing learning and enhancement.

Your rough and rude attempt at a "When did you stop beating your spouse?" displays how ignorant and/or uninformed on this topic and issues you are. OR - how much you have an agenda of disinformation.

I can't speak for other parts of the country (haven't researched such) but here in my State most(not all) Law Enforcement hired positions require at least two-year degree(Associates) in "Criminal Justice" and many to most prefer(require) at least a four year Bachelors.

As for my county, our Sheriff's Dept*. oversees certification of local municipal police depts. and also handles county wide Emergency Management Services (EMS) such as dealing with Natural disasters and civil disorder, etc.

* The "Sheriff" is an elected position. Such person is the main head/CEO of the Sheriff's Dept. for the county.

Whatcom County Sheriff's Office

The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office has a staff of 190 employees under the leadership of Sheriff Donnell "Tank" Tanksley. The Sheriff’s Office is comprised of three bureaus: Law Enforcement and Investigations, Corrections (including the main jail and the Interim Work Center), and Civil and Support Services. In addition, the Division of Emergency Management serves to enhance the safety of citizens in the event of a natural or man-made disaster.

Police usually have less than 1 second to make what could be a life or death decision. Lost on the usual suspects here. They'll never admit that they'd pull the trigger the exact same way the officer in a given situation would.

Keeping local law enforcement "local" is important for states' rights. Turning the police forces into a "national" police force puts us into what nations like China, Vietnam, Cuba, North Korea and other despotic nations have.....tyranny.
Over zealous cops can be a problem, but then it's better than putting law enforcement under the federal government is worse.
