Former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd called the apparent plans "one of the most significant security developments we have seen in decades" and "adverse to Australia's national security interests".​

China is, and for a decade has been making all the same moves in the western Pacific that Japan was making in the 20's and 30's. Anyone who can't see their endgame is blind.

The question is short of sanctioning both what could be done about this deal with The Solomons?

But imo the biggest danger of China in Asia is that it wants to replace the US as the guarantor of free shipping lanes, and even charging for the service. We get being the reserve currency in exchange for funding our mililtary with deficit spending. But this was not a role the US sought out. But I don't think China views direct military confrontation as the means. They want to dominate markets first, after which its geopolitical role just naturally grows. Japan was on a path to expanding its land mass before the US embargoed its access to oil, and that directly led to Japan attacking Pearl Harbor and the British.

At the end of the day it boils down to fighting small wars 'over there' or shoving our heads up our asses and end up fighting a large one on our own soil or being starved to death and commit suicide as a nation. We learned how to avoid that from having to fight WW I : Part Two, but obviously have become dumbed down and doped up and intent on repeating another WW and from a far weaker manufacturing base. Our affluence has killed off any sense of reality, and we're losing that affluence and social mobility as well as a result.

In 2020, concerns were raised in Australia when Papua New Guinea signed a memorandum of understanding with a Chinese company to build a $200 million "comprehensive multi-functional fishery industrial park" on Daru Island.

Former Army intelligence officer and University of New South Wales Professor, Clinton Fernandes, says China is making strong headway in Papua New Guinea just like it has in Solomon Islands.

"The next item on the agenda is the Daru Island area off Papua New Guinea which is going to have a Chinese presence and before too long a pro-China party will win the national elections in Papua New Guinea," he said.

The Solomon Islands are located east of Papua New Guinea in the Pacific Ocean.
Here is a brief history of the Solomon Islands and US relations following World War II up to Joe Biden.

Technical Difficulties

During World War II, the United States, fighting in tandem with Solomon Islanders, Australians and other allies, and Japan contested the Solomon Islands, then a British protectorate. By the end of 1943, the Allies were in command of the entire Solomon chain. In recognition of the close ties forged between the United States and the people of Solomon Islands during World War II, the U.S. Congress financed the construction of the Solomon Islands Parliament building. The United States participates in annual commemorations of the Battle of Guadalcanal in Solomon Islands, the turning-point for Allied forces in the Pacific theater of World War II.​

This week China and the Solomon Islands signed a draft agreement of a security pact that could allow Chinese police and other forces to take up duties on the islands.
This is a stunning development from a traditional partner of New Zealand, Australia and the United States.

It's plainly obvious that Joseph Biden will do absolutely nothing of any significance that will pose any kind of threat to China. He's been paid too well by Xi Jinping and other Chinese oligarchs.

China needs a wider range of area to patrol its growing Navy and military power. For a long time it has been corralled to go through a thinner opening from all the islands not aligned near its coast to get out to the main ocean. So now we have tp spend a bit more attention nearer New Zealand and Australia. We must have known something was happening because Australia cancelled an order for conventional submarines from France and signed a deal for nuclear subs from the United States at least several months ago.
