Social Security Says It Will Stop Accepting Bank Changes Over the Phone

“The government “?

You mean some 20 something incel dweebs
No I mean the govt. it’s comical you dembots have been conned into believing some 20 something guys are making these decisions

It’s why your party only has a 21 percent approval rating.

Yep! No problem for me.
I'm calling bs. Both my wife and one of her friends have been trying every week or so for the last few months and have been on hold for over an hour, up to two hours, every time before they gave up. The friend went to the SS office and they told her she needs to call and make an appointment. It's a joke. Go ahead and call SS customer service and see what happens - 1 (800) 772-1213

You're calling me a liar does not improve your case.

Last August I took a trip to Texas. While there a huge deposit was made to my bank account of 5 figures by SS. When I returned home, we called SS, but not on a Monday morning, which would have been stupid. Our call was answered in just a few minutes and we were transferred to an agent who told us it was my back pay for my SSDI. Over and done. 5 minutes.

Years back I need a replacement SS card for my daughter. We walked in to our local office, and were seen in about 5 minutes. Out of there in 10.

I do all of my VA, medical, and SS on line. It usually takes me just a few extra minutes to verify my identity through ID.me, but they all use the same verification, so that makes repetition very easy. I just confirm by a texted code to my phone. Piece of cake! Do it almost every single day because of my meds.

Its difficult enough dealing with government agency's.
Any and all changes need to be thought out & done with care.

You also missed:

They want millions of people to come in to the field offices they just closed.
No but they may have to go into the bank branch and present identification.

Yeah it's actually pretty easy

And millions can't go into a back branch (no time to wait forever) so that some thousands can be filtered out.
So this not the right nor appropriate managed way, to "filter" out certain people.

Bullshit...at some point people have to present themselves for identification. You can't start a bank account over the phone. If they have proof of a disability that prevents them from leaving their house there will be other options up to an including a visit to the house at which time the recipient will be expected to be able to identify themselves definitely.

Correct bullshit,

since people can't "present" themselves in offices that don't exist anymore, or those few remaining that are totally understaffed.
BTW-how does one "proof" a disability on a phone??? - that additionally fails due to no staff or being understaffed.

You can find excuses for the Trump administrations total fail, as much as you want to. It doesn't change the fact that on "organized" and well managed "resetting" of governmnet agencies would be the only correct way. And not some infantile chainsaw idiot hopping around on a stage.

There are records and ways of verifying things.

Banks have offices. That isn't going to change.

Despite having too much staff the social security administration has been a very poor steward of the people's money. Now they will have a realistic staff and do a better job.
