It’s a huge issue, always has been. The military has looked into converting ICE to burn hydrogen directly just to address this problem….but hydrogen in fuel cells is so much more efficient.

Cool, but that doesn't have any real world application today. Let scientists play around with the idea if they want. The time to bring it up on the political stage is when it is at least somewhat remotely plausible, not now. We have other things to worry about. An effective EV tank is FAR, FAR away and many advances would have to be made for it to be a reasonable solution.(to a problem that doesn’t really exist)

Hybrid IS EV technology. It just has on board charging. We have a plug in hybrid hybrid that will run all EV or gasoline assist for long range. The military does too. So you charge it at night or at a military base for 15 cents per kW hour...
Or fill the tank and go 600 miles using both.

Thats wrong. Even EVs may use outside energy to charge the batteries. You need a freaking battery to drive a motor to start an ICE tank. All a hybrid has is a bigger battery, a bigger electric motor, that starts the engine or runs by it self to drive the tank. It’s an EV much of the time.

Thats what the military is doing now.
