I was in a category 4 hurricane a couple of decades ago in Florida.
The storm surge was an estimated 20 feet high. It devastated all of the houses in the beach. Turned them into splinters. I remember seeing large fishing boats a quarter mile inland after the hurricane.
There was a mandatory evacuation for anyone who lived within a mile from the beach. Several people ignored the beach evacuation and lost their lives due to the storm surge. ...
