The Baath regime launched 39 separate gas attacks against the Kurds, many of them targeting villages far from the Iran-Iraq border.
Beginning at night on Thursday, March 16, and extending into Friday, March 17, 1988, the city of Halabja (population 70,000), was bombarded with twenty chemical and cluster bombs.

Obama:
"I suffer no illusions about Saddam Hussein.

He is a brutal man. A ruthless man. A man who butchers his own people to secure his own power. He has repeatedly defied U.N. resolutions, thwarted U.N. inspection teams, developed chemical and biological weapons, and coveted nuclear capacity. He’s a bad guy. The world, and the Iraqi people, would be better off without him.”

Obama opposed the Iraq War because “even a successful war against Iraq will require a U.S. occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences.” Yet after 9/11, 90 percent of Americans expected a similar attack within 6 months to a year. Apart from using chemicals on his own people, Saddam was shooting at the British and American planes patrolling the “no-fly” areas protecting the Kurds and other ethnic groups; paying $25K to families of homicide bombers; stealing from the Oil-for-Food program; and was in violation of a number of U.N. resolutions to declare what he has done with his WMD and his nuclear program.

More importantly where was President RayGun? And what did he do to Saddam for using gas against the Iranians as well as the Kurds?

Reagan was president.

He was doing whatever he felt was politically expedient at the time. The man only cares about his agenda - not our country, or the people in Syria, or in Iraq!

Here is where Obama was during that time:

1988
Barack Obama is now 26 years old. Before beginning his law studies, he decides to visit Kenya. He arrives in the village of Alego, situated on Lake Victoria, his father's hometown. He arrives there because he knows very little of his father. He wants to know who his father was, so he can understand his own identity. In Alego, Barack Obama meets his late father's family for the first time. He meets his grandmother and half siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews. The trip to Kenya helps Barack Obama realize the struggles that his father went through. It gives Barack a sense that the work he is doing is directly connected to his Kenyan family and their struggles. Barack Obama says: "[the visit] helped unify my outward self with my inward self in an important way."
Barack Obama begins his studies at Harvard Law School. At the end of his first year, a top law firm hires Obama as a summer intern in Chicago. There Barack Obama meets a young lawyer, Michelle Robinson, and the two start dating.
Barack Obama goes back to Harvard and keeps a long distance relationship with Michelle.
At the end of his second year, Barack Obama applies for the president of the Harvard Law Review.

Let's go back over twenty years ago to slam Obama even though he wasn't even an elected official of any sort at the time. He was maybe a Community Organizer at the time, not sure.
Well this thread is so stupid that it belongs in the Rubber Room. Count on Healthmyths to come up with another lame thread.

He was a college student at the time.

Hey, I've seen people try to blame Obama for Bush's economic collapse, so seeing the goldfish blame Obama for Hussein gassing the Kurds in 1988 is not surprising.
