Well, call me crazy but it seems that homelessness should be a crime.

How can you make homelessness a crime? I bet 90% of the homeless people would not BE homeless if they had any choice and had any better option or opportunity.
And the few who do choose homelessness can probably be made the case that they are mentally ill.

Bottom line is that homeless due to mental illness or just sheer destitution or tragedy, it really is the responsibility of the state to find and offer some solution to the problem.

The LA fire just created 100,000 more homeless people, then there are the hurricane victims of Carolina--- are you going to arrest them for having nowhere to go? For the money it would cost in legal and court fees and incarceration, the state could solve the problem amicably.

I am not at all trying to imply if there was no eucalyptus, there would be no fire.

I have repeatedly posted that Cali government refused to perform basic wildfire fuel prevention. It is squarely on them.

Eucalyptus trees aren't like Pine trees. They grow slow and tall, but they don't cover the forest floor with pine needles. And a Pine tree is basically a big gasoline fire. That's why forest fires are so deadly in Montana during the Summer.

Interesting story...I went to elementary school in LA, and our schoolyard was bordered on one side by a row of big eucalyptus trees, probably 30+ years old so they were very tall.

One day, one of them caught fire somehow, possibly from someone tossing a cigarette butt under the tree, because there was an alley on the other side where people walked. Being little kids, we all ran over to watch.

The school janitor, who was a Vietnam vet and had been around different places, came running out of the building screaming for everyone to get back and get the kids away from the tree. He knew what could happen, and a few minutes later, the tree basically exploded, all the sap in the trunk went off like napalm. It spread to two other trees before the fire department got it put out.

I can imagine entire groves or hillsides of those trees burning is apocalyptic.
