Since we know that trickledown economics is a GOP lie, why are republicans still opposed to taxing the very wealthy more?

The wealth disparity in the US is the widest in the world. We KNOW corporate subsidies and tax breaks do not benefit the middle class or poor on any significant level. It's simply a myth they would choose to invest the extra money into lower level work forces. Why pay the fast food worker more if republican policy allows the fat cats to just keep the money they save from tax loopholes or meat subsidies? No point in that for them. There is no incentive.

"Under this legislation," the proposal noted above a list of billionaires in America, "the families of all 657 billionaires in America who have a combined net worth of over $4.26 trillion would owe up to $2.7 trillion in estate taxes."

Everybody should be taxed the same percentage, from Bezos to the panhandler on the street. The government shouldn't give anybody anything unless they give it to everybody, no foodstamps unless everybody gets it. If you do that I'm perfectly fine with it. Everybody should be treated exactly the same no matter your situation in life.

Biden, Harris and Sanders keep assuring us that there will be no tax increase for people making less than $400,000.

Hussein made the same promise only at $250,000. One of the first things he did entering the White House was an EO taxing cigarettes. We all know how people who make over 250K smoke like all hell. :eusa_shhh:

What is also a myth or outright lie is when Democrats tell the Middle Class that no one making under $(Fill in the number) will pay an increase in taxes. Invariably and necessarily, the Middle Class pays more in taxes. Case in point, Biden is getting rid of the 2017 tax cuts. Under Trump’s plan, the Middle Class kept more of a percentage of its take home pay than they did under Obama or will under Biden.

I went from Middle Class to lower Middle Class and yet I pay more taxes under Rump than before. Not much but a few dollars. When you add up over 100 millionof us, that few dollars adds up. Then take those few hundred millions and give them to the Uber Rich in tax breaks. That was the Rump Tax Break. He broke my taxes (which broke me) and broke the Uber Rich's taxes which paid for their new luxury toys and such.
Explain how Trump's taxes broke you! I'd really like to hear how that worked.

Ah, the Vinnie Barbarino defense. Gotcha.

We know that trickle up poverty is a reality.
So you're just going to deflect the topic like a little bitch?
No, I am going to tell you that FUCK YOU, COMMIE we're not doing communism or socialism. We will kill everybody and go to Valhalla before allowing that communist shit, so give it up.
I understand that you rightwing douches lack the nuance and critical thinking to understand my point, but at some point you have to figure it out. I am not suggesting we abolish capitalism. I’m saying we create a private market system that is more egalitarian.
Even in Communist countries throughout history the DNA in humans dictates the strongest survive and prosper and the weak don't.
That fact will never change. Get used to it or spend your life whining about it.
The most obvious examples of extreme Capitalism are always found among the elite in Communist countries. It's hilarious to watch.
One side of the street in Moscow are the old ladies waiting in the bread line. On the opposite side of the same street a black limo is parked while a young women in a sable coat shops in a store that sells every fucking luxury food item imaginable. The chauffeur hauls boxes and boxes of these extremely expensive foods and wines out to the limo. The 'white-blond' women is helped into the limo and she never even glances at those who are likely some of her relatives waiting in the bread line as the limo drives off to her sugar-daddy's palace. This happens everywhere around the world all the time.

Here is an example of why I cant defend BIG Big business. United Health care profit for 2020 was 67 BILLION. A 16+INCREASE over 2019.
They just raised the cost to customers five percent monthly. that's with 900 thousand new enrollees. Medium employee pay is 54 THOUSAND a year. The old CEO & the new ones pay for the year OVER 50 MILLION dollars. Want to check out Wall Mart?
. . . and I am sure you probably supported the ACA, didn't you?

:auiqs.jpg:
Mr B, what has the ACA have to do with the conversation? But I will reply, I thought it was a big_________ mess. I did think they would take the foundation of it and start working on cleaning it up so it actually might benefit the general population. silly me.

Folks complain about wealth disparity, but if you understand government and how the market work, you understand, that the larger the government, and how it interacts with stake holders, that larger the government, the larger the wealth disparity becomes.

Those who have the most money to lobby for what they want, are the ones that can manipulate the market for their interests the most.

Health care is no different.

Take education. Since government has gotten so involved in education, the cost has skyrocketed. The cost of education for the average student has has gone way up, but the folks that have truly benefited are the folks that extend loans, the Universities, and the folks that make learning materials.

The same is true of Health care. It isn't the patients that have benefited, it is the drug makers, the insurers, and the health delivery systems that have benefited that most from health care reform, and thus, the wealth disparity, all because of a huge expansive central government that take power away from the people, and give it to those who are already very wealth and very powerful.

This is something folks that always want to help, never seem to grasp.

Back at the turn of the century. . . when the government broke up Standard Oil. . . into multiple companies, Rockefeller only benefited. . . as he STILL owned all the resulting companies and turned out becoming even MORE wealthy.

The folks in silicon valley would LOVE for the government to declare Google, FB et. al. monopolies and to just try to break them up. . . as their share holders would only own even MORE of our economy. Folks just don't understand how the entire system works.

Dreaming about "confiscating the capital," of those who produce the very goods and products that make our society function? Well, that is just what it is. . . a dream. These are the folks that fund the campaigns, of politicians on both the left and the right.

Reported income isn't the same as wealth. The top 1% own as much wealth as the bottom 90%.

Which is irrelevant.

You still have an epic fail demonstrating that inequality of wealth harms anyone

No reply to a straight forward question? Trump didn't raise taxes on the Middle Class...so your claim that he "broke you" is a flat out lie!

You want to decrease wealth disparity?

Shrink the federal government, END the FEDERAL RESERVE.

It is as simply as that.

Wow. Are you really this stupid, or do you act this way on the internet?

Cool, I won't bother with you anymore.

Correct. Trump's tax cuts were across the board. He doubled the standard deduction as well, which the vast majority of low and middle income earners use.

They have been fed talking points and they just regurgitate them without thinking.

Raise the minimum wage until even the Poor pay their share of the tax burden!

Yep, one of the greatest GOP Scams ever foisted on the American People!

If you got more money from so called very wealthy what then? Would it used for something important like say oh I don’t know taking a very, very small step in paying down the national debt or would it be used for yet more partisan pork bullshit. My vote would be for the second.
Regardless of where the money went, it would help for pay for any government spending and reduce the deficit.
You reduce the deficit by cutting spending, knucklehead.
There is no general warfare clause nor any common offense clause; all spending on that is discretionary, not mandatory entitlement spending.

My FICA sent down, meanwhile my Medicare went up to not only make up for it but it surpassed the cut. I lost money on the deal.

And the more vacations he and his family can take to Hawaii or Rome or wherever. And the new Mercedes and Porches and the new half million dollar boat and..

Every vacation, every Mercedes, every Porsche, and ever boat, contributes to the economy.

Your class envy is so ugly.
Seriously, Paris Hilton can pump more money into the economy on a weekend shopping spree than I can in a year, and that money goes to people making good money at good jobs.

Since we know that trickledown economics is a GOP lie,
Trickle down economics is not a lie, it's a theory that contends that the investment class will invest more if they have to pay less in taxes. Those investments create jobs for the working class. It's quite true in some cases, less so in others. Educate yourself.
why are republicans still opposed to taxing the very wealthy more?
I don't speak for republicans, but I do advocate for lower taxation for all people.
