Joe Biden, as do most economist wants to raise the min. wage to 15.00 an hour, from the poultry 7.25 as it stands today. Most workers of course do not make 7.25 an hour as we all know, most are making btwn 8-12 an hour, with 12.00 being the standard. However, this debate has got to come to an end and real work, not words have to prevail this time.
For the last 12 years Wall Street as has Main Street retailers via online venues, all have seen profits soar to historic levels and Trump rallied and braged on how rich the rich was getting especially his last 4 years, not only with tax cuts but with market growths...so this bullshit about ppl will lose jobs...tired of hearing about it.
And waiting on a recovery from this pandemic will take another decade, if not more with so many business's, closing. However, NOBODY AND I MEAN NOBODY WILL MAKE A DIME, OUTSIDE OF SPECULATORS AND HEDGE FUNDERS on WALL STREET, WITHOUT CONSUMER SPENDING.
Its time Biden, congress and the senate take the effort, the vote and raise the min. wage to a level that can not only help families regroup again with a new job focus, but also help business's grow also. Amazon raised wages profits only grew. Some companies will have to fold, welcome to life!! But at least the owner can go out and find a job paying 15 bucks an hour vs 7.25.
Complex answers, to complex questions.
They are wrong. Every single time you raise the minimum wage, it destroys jobs.
Let me ask you something. I don't know what products you buy on a regular basis, but for simplicity sake let's take Milk.
If you today were to raise the price of milk to say $20 a gallon. Would you still buy milk for your kids? Or would you have them make do with water, or perhaps orange juice?
You would change what you buy. Or maybe you would still buy milk, but very rarely.
Let me give another example. Right now an unlimited data plan for smart phones, costs anywhere from $50 to $100 a month for a single phone.
What if the price of a smart phone plan doubled or tripled to $150 a month, to $300 a month? Would you still pay for an unlimited data plan for a single phone? The rich people might, sure. But for the rest of us, more likely we are going to either skip on having a smart phone, or find cheaper plans without unlimited data.
When my husband and I moved to a slightly more upscale area a few years ago, we didn’t know a soul. He had a few friends at work, yeah, but we didn’t know any of our neighbors yet, nor had we made any local friends. When we finally settled in our new home and winter was …

Here this mother, talks about how the price for hiring a babysitter was insane. As the price for having a babysitter went up, the result was they simply went out on dates less.
She ends the article with:
"But I won’t pay $15 an hour for someone to sit on my couch and watch movies while my kids sleep. If my only choice was paying $60 for a four-hour date with my husband, I would just stay home."
Another article which was sadly removed from the Huffington Post, said they simply found another couple with children, and did kid swapping. I'll take your kids one night so you can go on a date, and you take mine so we can.
Either way, when the cost of the labor is higher than the value of the labor to the customer, they simply don't hire the labor.
This is the reality of how life works.
Joe Biden, as do most economist wants to raise the min.
Not true. There are just as many if not more economists, that do not want to raise the minimum wage, for the reasons I have outlined.
Amazon raised wages profits only grew. Some companies will have to fold
And therein lies the problem. Are you in favor of the rich getting richer, while the poor getting poorer? Because that's the result of your position.
Amazon can afford to have a $15/hour minimum wage, because Amazon makes $13 Billion in real profits, and because they already had much higher wages.
Before Amazon said they would have a $15/hour minimum, they were already paying that much, or close to it.
But if you opened your own business, would you be able to afford $15/hour minimum? No. Because you are not making $13 Billion a year in profits.
So your business will close, and Amazon will grow, because now they have a monopoly. A monopoly that you created with a $15/hour minimum wage. Rich get richer... poor get poorer.
By the way.... have you ever worked at Amazon, or know anyone who has? Because I know dozens. There is a reason Amazon paid $15/hour back in 2015. We had about a dozen people quit working at the warehouse where I was, and go to Amazon. More than half came back to our warehouse to work for a lower wage.
The reason is, Amazon requires you to work hard. As in, real hard. And many people simply can't keep up, or simply don't want to work that hard. You are MOVING when you are at Amazon. It's a lot like UPS. When you work for UPS, you are WORKING. You are moving, getting boxes, scanning them, tossing them into trucks, and getting the next box. Same with Amazon. You have to make stuff happen, non-stop.
It's not like at the warehouse where I worked, where you walk around, pulling a cart, look up the shelves, find what you need, walk to the next place. No on.... you are bordering on running all day. And if you don't get your quota of work done, the boss comes down on you. Sorry you have to work. You have to get X number done. You must get the orders out.
There is no free lunch. There is *NO* free lunch. You want $15/hour? You have to work for it. And if you eliminate jobs that pay less, then I hope you are a strong person, with good stamina, and a good back, because you are going to be moving it. And hard.
Like I said, more than half the people who left for the higher paying Amazon job, called us back and asked if they could get their old jobs back. And fascinating thing happened by the way... all those people who complained about the wages too low.... when the few of them that we rehired came back to our company.... not one complained about low pay anymore. Not one.
But at least the owner can go out and find a job paying 15 bucks an hour vs 7.25.
Really? So you are going to destroy a persons life, cause them to lose millions of dollars, but at least they can get $15/hour at Amazon?
Let me give you an example.
So this restaurant is Luigi's, it's been open in Hilliard Ohio since the 1950s, as the banner says. It's a family owned and operated mom&pop shop. Literally. The guy who owns it, is the son of the guy who founded it, and his son is now running the store, and likely will take over after his father retires.
Now let's pretend that your grand father started this store, your father owns it, and soon it will be your store.
How does that "Some companies will have to fold, welcome to life!! But at least the owner can go out and find a job paying 15 bucks an hour vs 7.25." sound to you now?
Are you seriously suggesting that a policy that would bankrupt your business, and end a family owned store for generations, would be perfectly fine, and you'll be happy going and working at McDonald's if they pay $15/hour?
Of course you would be furious to lose a business that was in the family for generations, so you can go be a poor worker for McDonald's. But those people, are exactly the people you would be harming. McDonald's has the money to replace workers with Kiosks, and automate grilling and fries. You and your small business do not have that kind of money, so you go bankrupt, and McDonald's gets rich. Rich get richer, poor get poorer... and all because you wanted a minimum wage law.
