If I'm the owner of a business and I'm forced to double the pay of my employees, I can promise you that increase isn't going to come out of my profits. I'm going to raise my prices. So, yeah, if I'm a McDonald's franchisee and I go from having to pay my employees $7.25 an hour to $15, damn right I'm doubling the price of that dollar menu cheeseburger.

And, if people don't buy $2 cheeseburgers, I'll thin my staff, fire people, and lower my prices...

But your point is sound. The city of Long Beach mandated "hero pay" for grocery workers (really?) and, instead of those people being paid an additional $4 an hour, they're now unemployed.

$15 is a paltry sum considering that if the minimum wage had kept up with inflation, it would be $24 an hour today. Corporations get rich on that shit. But I applaud the cities and employers that have already bumped to $12-15 and don't see them suffering in any manner whatsoever!
