Should Washington DC have representation in the Senate?

Republicans would NEVER allow DC to have representation due to its democrat leanings....
However, states like Nebraska or Mississippi have virtually always voted republican....at least for the last 30 years or more..
And Maryland has a voting record of Democrat for 150 years.

Gerrymandered to be as such forever.

Congress not only reviews and can modify DC's local budget, but it can also annul any law it does not agree with. Therefore, DC does not have true local self-government.

In addition, the President appoints DC's local judges and is in charge of DC's court and prison system
DC is not a state but a parcel cut out of Maryland and is administrated by the federal government so the capital is in no state. It will never be.

If the district was populated by a majority of conservatives every RWnut on this forum would say yes.

This one wouldn't DC is not a State.

Rules are rules, something you progressives ignore when you see fit.

It was part of the deal when they moved there, and if they don't like it they can move to an actual State.
... or the deal can be amended. What makes its current status set in stone? If it's a Constitutional question, even that can be changed.

See Article 5 and go for it. LOL

The Senate is representative of the STATE(not city) as there are 2 for each STATE.. Since Washington D.C. is a city, NO it shouldn't have a Senate Rep, ever. if people want a State Representative, move out of D.C.
Why can't a city be a state? What makes them less worthy than the people of WY?

The Constitution. Congress has full legislative authority over DC, it was supposed to be a neutral seat of government, nothing more.

.

Taxation without representation. D.C. should at the least have a Representative in the House.

They have a non-voting rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton, a resident whack.

Shoulda don't fly. Get support for a constitutional amendment or get stuffed.

They are represented by the whole congress.

.

Are you high?

Have you read the Constitution? Congress has all legislative authority over the federal seat of government, AKA Washington DC. Representation is reserved constitutionally to the States. If people living there don't like it they can unass the district and move to a State.

Yeah. An amendment should happen but never will as it's opposed by the voter suppression party.

Opposed by Americans.

You're SOL on this issue. It will never happen because there is no support for it.

Plenty of support. Just not from your voter suppression party.
