Should public schools be investigated (for political bias) ?

My answer is a resounding YES. Public schools all across America have become more than places to learn reading, writing, & arithmetic.
They are (and have been for decades) leftwing indoctrination factories. ...

Bullshit.

Oh, so a genuine public school indoctrinator, huh ? Well, my public school educated arithmetic tells me that "40 years" takes us back to an inclusion of the 1988 presidential election.

So back then, did you encourage kids to support Michael Dukakis ?
Conveniently "forgot" to tell them about Willie Horton ?

I grew up in the bluest of blue states and attended public school. No one ever encouraged me to support any particular candidate. The only thing I remember about Dukakis was laughing at him riding around in that tank (and he was my governor).

What difference does it make of what was taught 40 years ago? That was then, this is now. Like I'd said previously......back then we were taught the 3 R's, history, science, some basic life skills and even some trades skills that are no longer taught
...

"No longer taught"? My son took shop class last year.

They are (and have been for decades) leftwing indoctrination factories. I went through public schools from 1st grade to a college bachelor's degree, and found them to be exactly that way. A semester of graduate school at a state university wasn't much better.

Interesting how it took me decades to unravel myself from all of this indoctrination, and begin to see things clearly. In 1988, I recall my 2 kids saying that they like Michael Dukakis for president over George Bush. Back then, in the classrooms they got teachers advocating for Dukakis. I even went to the polls & voted for Dukakis, all without any of us ever hearing one word about Willie Horton.

The difference was stark, but many people never got the message.
Bush supported the death penalty for first-degree murder, and Dukakis not only opposed the death penalty, but also allowed first-degree murderers to have weekend passes from prison. Willie Horton murdered a boy in a robbery, stabbing him nineteen times. Despite the life sentence, Horton received ten weekend passes from prison. Horton fled, kidnapping a young couple, stabbing the man and repeatedly raping his girlfriend.

So is the situation in public schools any better now than it was in the 1980s ? I think not. It might even be worse, with all the TDS and crazy woke ideologies floating around.

Maybe the answer is homeschooling. Get the kids away from the indoctrinators and teach them yourselves. Millions of people are going that route nowadays.
And I wonder if these schools ought possibly be defunded.

How does this jive with Turning Point being promoted in Schools?

I recall back in 1960 us grade-school kids on the school bus chanting, "Kennedy, Kennedy, he's our man. Nixon belongs in a garbage can." None of that came from the school, we lived in a heavily unionized working-class neighborhood.

Concerning Dukakis, with all the Willie Horton ads the Republicans ran before the election during football games I found them hard to miss. And then there was all the use the Republicans got out of the goofy looking Dukakis picture with him in an army helmet riding around with his head sticking out of an army tank, man did that photo-op of his backfire. I went with George HW Bush in that one.

I view any investigation as just more pissing away taxpayers' money. Those so concerned should run for their local school board or at least make the effort of learning for themselves about those seeking a place on their local Board of Education positions.

That debate where he couldn't answer an uncomfortable question regarding his wife didn't do him any good either.

In the Greater Boston area. Your basic suburb.

Doing a bit of research into whether shop or other alternative classes are offered......they are now bring them back to schools because of the demands for trade workers.

But just 7 years ago when my 2 youngest were still in high school........many of the 'alternative' or trade type classes were not offered at the schools and anyone that wanted those options had to go to off campus locations.......usually a college or trade school that would work with the school districts for credits toward both high school graduation and college credits.

It also depends on the schools and districts if they're an option or not

High school students can also take some college courses while still in school.

Right wing nuts with no education want to weigh in on education? This guy's research is that his kids went to school in the 80's. What an intellectual. Please share your worldly knowledge with us. Just put it in badlands where it belongs. There is no link, no backup, just this old mans rant.
Well even AIRHEADS need to be responded to. I have 2 bachelors degrees + a year of graduate school, cut short by affirmative action discrimination + taught economics & geography in 4 colleges of the City University of New York.

As usual, stupid leftist thinks links are the all-important, while disregarding what we all know, as described earlier in this thread (+ the OP has a link + sublinks)

Good case for the ignore button. Ho hum.

It would be a complete waste of time and money on a national scale. We have an extremely diverse nation. You'd probably find "indoctrination" in small pockets, but not in most schools.

For goodness sake, every teacher in small town Kansas probably comes from the very district in which they teach. Do you imagine they're importing Blue City Liberals to teach in....Kansas?
Where it exists, root it out, clean it up. It's bigger than what you say.

Perhaps if you had a liberal public school education instead of all that begatting stuff you would understand them.
I went through 17 years of public school "education" + taught in public college for 3 years (4 colleges of the City University of New York.) 😐
