Should DC become a state and get 2 Senators and voting rights for residents?

If they wanted representation, they shouldn't have moved to DC. The purpose of that clause in the Constitution is to keep parasites from being able to vote on free stuff.
Most were born in DC and lived there their whole life

A person who pays massive federal taxes is not a parasite

The people of DC pay more Federal Taxes than 30 states but are not allowed to vote on how their tax dollars are spent.

During the Revolution, this was called ”Taxation without Representation”

If you are not going to treat them as US Citizens with voting rights, exempt them from federal taxes like Puerto Rico

They do not have a right to their own state

THey can rejoin maryland or virginia if they want representation

They do not have a right of self determination

If their income comes from the government, then they pay no taxes. They simply perform a bookkeeping operation.

1. The nation's capitol was not supposed to be in a state, owned by a state, or be a state because it would have drastically more power than any of the other states. That alone should eliminate it from consideration.
2. The nation's legislators were not supposed to make Washington a permanent home. They were supposed to ride into town, do their work, then go back home and listen to their constituents. In today's world, there's no need for them to even ride into town any more. Get them back to the people instead of the lobbyists.
3. Anyone who lives in Washington decides to live in Washington. If they want to vote, they need to move to a state so they can. Or, failing that, there should be no permanent residents in Washington. If they want to live there and still vote, they should be assigned residency in whatever state is closest to where they live, and their taxes and votes go to that state. No way should Washington become a state.

You should take that on the road, especially anyone that leads to a large military base.

The citizens of DC should have the right to decide
Maryland or Virginia may not want them as part of their state

I see 700k U.S. citizens without representation. How or who they vote for should not be a consideration for statehood.
then should all major cities become states? do it for one the rest can follow, right?

LA becomes a state and they carry most of the federal votes in CA. as they do now anyway really.

DC will always be an oddball situation. but trying to say a city needs to be a state really just dominos into the abyss of stupidity as others will simply counter with similar moves.

Easy to block off that area of DC that is involved in legislation
Most of the 700,000 residents of DC are not involved in Congress

Why? There are not enough of them and they're half transplants from across teh country

They don't get a state

That is a democratic delusion

Again if you want representation, join the fucking states you were already a member of. Maryland and virginia did not give up land to make a 3rd state.

DC isn't even the size of fucking chicago.

LA gets to vote for Senators and Congressmen
DC does not

There are as many of them as there are in Wyoming
They also pay more Federal Taxes

don't care. you'll see this happen regardless if you start pulling power trip stunts, which is all this is despite your BE FAIR battlecry you always do which really means GIMME WHAT I WANT like any 2nd grader will cry out.

you do it. a lot.

watch, you'll do it again.

Last time I checked Wyoming wasn't carved out from other states

Nor was it the capital of our nation

There is no right to self determination

Only representation

Okay, so assign them residency in the neighboring states while DC remains not a state. We allow citizens visiting or living abroad to vote, and this wouldn't be much different. They would just have to pay state taxes, since they would be residents of that state. We emphatically do not need more Senators. DC should NOT be a state.
