What is the almost $900 billion the country already spends per year on the military going to, that after a few weeks of a war we decided to pursue, we need that much more funding?

We could save that much by going after Fraud, Waste, and Abuse.

In particular the incredible amount of waste in defending NATO countries who won't defend themselves, much less come to our aid.
Which NATO countries has the USA ever defended? - you living in some parallel universe?

There were only NATO members that helped to USA to wage war on Somalia, Serbia, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, etc.

Probably to buy newer better bombs and other equipment. Stuff probably has shelf life? May as well use it now rather than scrap $200B. Terrorist are a good use of old stock.
It would have been budgeted for replacement if it had such a shelf life.

The alternate American universe.

My opinion is informed enough, we simply can't afford a $200b supplemental nor a $1.5T 2027 defense budget.
It's killing you, especially as the bond market is so weak. But you can't bear to not overextend even as your debt is being sold off and/or issued at higher rates.

Democrats are rooting against America and our troops again. They started with the Vietnam war and never stopped rooting against us the traitors. Apparently Democrats love dictators and murderous regimes.

Seriously. Democrats are more predictable than Old Faithful, lunar eclipses and 5 o'clock shadow--- there is whatever common sense, decency, and fair play dictate, then there is the exact opposite that democrats will champion. In every case, their choices go completely afoul of self-interest, patriotism, safety and security every time.
  • 40 million undocumented aliens? Why not? Let's make it 400 million!
  • Iran? What's the bother? Leave those poor Persians alone to their ablutions!
  • Homeland Security? Border protection? Let's defund it all right in the middle of the biggest foreign threat since 9/11!

Trump ran on balancing the budget.
Until Trump comes close, we can't be adding hundreds of billions onto a budget we already can't afford.

The total U.S. national debt was approximately $36.1 trillion to $36.2 trillion on or around January 20, 2025.

As of March 2026, the total U.S. national debt has surpassed $39 trillion.

Very true. Trump woulds need to raise revenue to offset the supplemental request.
DOGE found $213b if congress could cash it in
Not to mention the fraud found in Medicaid and Welfare.
SS and Medicare need to be "fixed"
Congress has a lot of work to do, and they aren't doing anything.
