The $8T number usually comes from inaccurately adding the 2021 COVID deficit (mostly Trump-era policy).

Apples-to-apples deficits under Biden are closer to $6.7T.

Fiscal conservatism was never a principle. It was always just a weapon, put away the second Dear Cult Leader decides he wants to blow something up without justification, an exit strategy, or a price tag anyone’s allowed to question.
