The 2026 budget is $839

The 2027 budget request is $1.5T, so yep, just about double. I'd say NFW.
We are only five months into FY2026 and the deficit is already $1 trillion.

And, of course, the hypocritical MAGA World is dead silent about that.

No, the subject is how much of a supplemental does the military need.

A 3 or 4 week war shouldn't cost $200b based on the weekly numbers of $12b.
The $500b add for 2027 is ridiculous, we spend more than the next 10 militaries combined, enough already.
You still have not established the numbers for $12 billion a week and what all that entails. My guess is they are using the whole kit and kaboodle for that figure. $200 billion would provide for an 8-week war. We are at week 3 already. Unless you have access to the particular numbers, how do you know that it is not accurate?

Without question. Failure is not an option here. If we don't win this war and drive the IRGC and mullahs out of existence, they and many other forces around the globe would only see this as proof of America's inability and lack of commitment and drive on to try to destroy us. If we defeat Iran, this puts forth a global reset on the planet and strategically changes everything for the getter for everyone but China, Russia, Nor.K. and Iran.

It doesn't need to add up for you, it needs to add up for the military budget planners who know exactly what we need, why and how.
We aren’t going to win this war. We will bomb shit. Make enemies. Declare victory. Leave. And it will be like we were never there: Afghanistan, Vietnam, Iraq…the list is endless. Rinse and repeat.

We shall see won't we.

Already got enemies. Kicking Iran's ass will likely earn us friends and respect because no one else could do it.

Difference is this time Trump is running the show.

They just passed the BBB appropriations bills, except for DHS.
We're still on Biden's last budget.
You remember Biden? The moron you Never-Trumpers elected.

The entire War Department budget was $900b. A $200b add for a short war is nonsense. Here's $50b spend it wisely.

Then Trump wants another $500b add for 2027. NFW
Okay, if we're just arguing over the amount, I don't have that strong of an opinion.

I haven't known you to be a Trump-basher for the sake of it, so you may well be right.

I would say keep in mind, asking for way more than you actually hope to get is a negotiation tactic and Trump is the first president in living memory to understand negotations. Well make that since Reagan, I guess.

We could save that much by going after Fraud, Waste, and Abuse.

In particular the incredible amount of waste in defending NATO countries who won't defend themselves, much less come to our aid.

Doesn't specify details except for "$11b a week for military operations"

I'd be happier with a $100b supplemental knowing that we don't have money to spare.

Come on. We may get scorched earth from it. Then we will see how tough we all are. I do not look forward to it.

I hope you’re young enough to see your folly.

The U.S. is in a financial hole. It makes no sense to dig any deeper.

It would be a lot cheaper for us to stay neutral in the skirmish between which of Abraham's sons are rightful heirs of the promise land. Isaac or his half-brother Ishmael. Much like we've stayed away from the siding which is the proper heir of Muhammad that split the Sunni and Shia sects. Taking sides has cost us plenty, especially remembering back to the stance we took in 1973.

Our forces are engaged. They are putting their butts on the lune. So OF COURSE they must be funded.

When are you signing up to join the fight, comrade?

The military needs to be sent home. Iran was never a threat to us, and 13 Americans have died for nothing.

The USS Ford has been on deployment for 266 days, far beyond a standard deployment and fast approaching a record not broken since the Vietnam War our Coward-in-Chief dodged.

The ship and crew are exhausted. A fire ripped through the ship a few days ago that took 30 hours to extinguish, and now a large part of the crew is sleeping on the deck because their bunks are destroyed.
Been there, done that. Unlike you whiners.

Democrats are rooting against America and our troops again. They started with the Vietnam war and never stopped rooting against us the traitors. Apparently Democrats love dictators and murderous regimes.

What are they spending the new money on? I am sure that part is specified, but you apparently don't know either before spouting another uninformed opinion.
