Should assistant suicide be allowed for old age ???

Her brain was gone. The money was almost gone. (And he offered to give it to whoever her parents said, them or a charity.)
Even if all that is true the manner death was exceedingly painful. If she wasn't going to feel anything. No need for those painkillers. Just give her a little extra and be done with it.

It was not, because (yet again) she had no brain function and felt nothing.

Let’s say you are aging but not super old !
Let’s say you suffer from low back pain
Let’s say you are terrified about your hire ability due to mediocre business resume and lack of recommendations

Let’s say your religion forbids suicide by yourself

Let’s say you wish you were young again with good back who’s life was about sports

why can’t assistant suicide by an option ??

Oh I was thinking about this poor guy I meet online. He is from New Mexico and around 50
I'm only for it if I can nominate individuals.

I have MANY contemporaries and family members whose whole life is little more than waiting for the next doctor's appointment. They do a few things like go to church or the ladies' club, but even going out for a walk is no longer possible, let alone biking, bowling, or playing a round of golf.

Once you are on Medicare you become a "Cash Cow" for the medical industry. Every time you have a significant test they uncover something else that requires treatment, and your PCP sends you off to yet another specialist - even as you insist that you have no indication of a problem.

I would support legislation that creates a dignified way of ending it all without the shame of committing suicide with a gun, car, or a spectacular leap.

My generation of Boomers has always said that, "If I ever get to that stage..." I will end it all, but it doesn't seem to be turning out that way. We are clinging to life tenaciously, even as life itself becomes miserable.
Erm, all you do is not take the medication.

No one has the right to take the life of another.
No one has the "right" to take 40% of your wages, decide what foods you can eat, or who you can't love or hate, but if it can be made to seem like a "right" if they sign some laws on paper.

Making someone suffer and putting the family though emotional and financial torture is just wrong for all the wrong reasons. It also puts a tremendous financial strain on the health care system to perpetuate people who don't want it. I would like to see an end-of-life account established like social security for individuals that at the end of meaningful life could either be applied to terminal care and reverting to survivors or applied to continuing care. Their choice, made by the individual and family. That would make your life meaningful and put some skin back in the game. The hospice treatment cartel now offers no incentive, people just use it because they see it as "free" which is most definitely not the case, like all entitlements to be pumped for all it's worth.

That is the way a Democracy works

Your little catch phrase outlook on life betrays you. Then Democracy, or your version of it, could allow it, is that not so? My version of our democracy is you get to vote for politicians who promise a lot of shit and then ignore all that and start campaigning for the next election while they let special interests create bills for them to sign. The drug and pharma combine would not like incentivized health care would they, as well as the religious right until it's their turn in the barrel.

Don’t like it, vote them out

Happens all the time

Old people are not a drain on the economy so an increasing number of them is a positive and helps the nation. Could well be the most important group of folk in the nation.
