Shocking, he was so young.

He had a bad sinus infection a while ago, and did that spread into his organs and overwhelm him?

R.I.P.

NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch died Thursday at the age of 41 after he was hospitalized earlier in the day with a severe illness.

The NASCAR racer was expected to race this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway, but was forced to drop out after his hospitalization. Earlier this month he reportedly had a sinus infection at the time of a race in Upstate New York and had to radio in to his crew asking for medical assistance. He finished the race in eighth place.

Busch's passing was confirmed by the Busch family, Richard Childress Racing and NASCAR in a joint statement, who described him as a "future Hall of Famer" and a "rare talent."

“On behalf of the Busch family, everyone at Richard Childress Racing and all of NASCAR, we are devastated to announce the sudden and tragic passing of Kyle Busch," the joint statement reads.

“Our entire NASCAR family is heartbroken by the loss of Kyle Busch," the statement continued. "Kyle was a rare talent, one who comes along once in a generation. He was fierce, he was passionate, he was immensely skilled and he cared deeply about the sport and fans ... NASCAR lost a giant of the sport today, far too soon."

The group did not state what Busch's cause of death was, but said further details will be "shared as appropriate.”

I was unable to discover how many actual 'bang-bang' crashes he was invoved in.

I'm going to speculate, so understand, this is just something to consider and not in any way applied to the reality of his passing, but...

Sometimes when you take a head injury, like those sustained in auto accidents, it can weaken something inside your head. I think the usual suspect is an artery or blood vessel having a weakened wall that slowly gives out over time. Almost impossible to find, but as it starts going, it presents some symptoms that can lead a doctor to do an MRI.

Reports that he wasn't feeling well at the end of a race and asked to be met by a doctor after the finish of the race. Then, earlier in the week, and now this sudden announcement.

His family will be in our prayers.

Prayers for Kyle and his family. And comfort to all who are suffering their own personal loss this day.

Sad news, he was one of the best and Auto Racing was improved by his involvement.

Shocking, he was so young.
I just saw him race in NASCAR a couple weeks ago.

Curiously, Jeff Beck died under not wholly dissimilar circumstance 3 years ago when a simple sinus infection turned into bacterial meningitis of the brain and killed him too.
