If you are seeing a fake "Microsoft blocked your PC" pop-up, do not call the number or click anything on the page. Immediately force-close your browser by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc, selecting your browser (Edge, Chrome), and clicking End task. [1]
Depending on what you are specifically trying to remove, follow the steps below:

1. Stopping Scam Pop-Ups & Rogue Notifications
If a scam website has hijacked your browser and keeps sending persistent notifications:
  • Reset Browser: Open your browser's settings and look for Privacy, search, and services (or "Site Settings"). Select Clear browsing data (for "All time"). [1]
  • Block Rogue Sites: Navigate to edge://settings/content/notifications in Microsoft Edge. Look under the "Allow" section, find the weird/unrecognized site, and click the three dots to Remove or Block it.

2. Switching to a Local Windows Account
If you are trying to remove your Microsoft login from your PC and use a traditional local account instead:
  • Open Settings (Windows Key + I).
  • Go to Accounts > Your info.
  • Click Sign in with a local account instead.
  • Enter your current password/PIN and follow the prompts to create a new local username and password.
  • Restart your PC.

3. Uninstalling Microsoft 365 or Unwanted Apps
If you are trying to uninstall the Office suite or an app that recently installed itself: [1, 2]
  • Search for Control Panel in your Windows search bar.
  • Under Programs, click Uninstall a program.
  • Right-click the app or Microsoft 365 and select Uninstall. [1, 2]
