Professional hitters of today's game can adjust to plus 100 mph fastballs, but that is highly dependent on the pitcher and if his fastball has movement. If you are saying that Ruth would succeed in today's game as a power hitter that is highly speculative since he never faced anything close to 100 mph. Add to that the movement of today's sliders and splitters, curves and change ups makes it tougher yet. There is no doubt Ohtani would shred big league pitchers of Ruth's day, including Ruth himself.
