Sexist pig Kasich advises personal responsibility

Good luck with that ....

Thanks. I actually work on that issue very hard now because 3 of the 360 young men we've worked with over the past 3 years have raped young women. And it occurred to me that some of them didn't realize that what they were doing was a crime, so education might be helpful to them. I think that every young man we educate is potentially one less rapist, and that those young men can also disseminate the information we provide to their peers.

I appreciate your sincere expression of support.

And in the meantime, college women should protect themselves by avoiding dangerous situations.

Pretty straightforward.

Why should we put the onus of self-protection entirely on women for a crime that is committed primarily by men?

Riddle me that, batman?

It basically absolves men of the responsibility to persuade or stop other men from raping.

Is that your intention?

You know, drunk women don't rape themselves.

It appears the obvious escapes you.
The only way college women can be made to feel more safe is to avoid dangerous situations. His advice was sound. As president, he can't make her feel more safe. Only she by her own decisions, and the local police, and local citizens standing up against violence, can do that.

Nobody is blaming the victim. However, women must be advised to look out for themselves and avoid bad news situations.

You're mistaken. One way that college women can be made to feel more safe is to change the culture of young men in those settings SO THEY DON'T RAPE THEM.

Goddamn.

Change the culture of young men? Why does that sound suspiciously like brainwashing?

We used informational campaigns to persuade people that smoking was killing them.

Maybe we can do something similar to educate young men about what types of sexual acts would be legally classified as rape, and how to avoid committing a crime.

I don't consider that brainwashing. I consider it protecting both young men and young women.

I have an 18 year old son. We've had dozens of conversations about this subject, because I don't want my son taking stupid risks with his future freedom.

For the record, I work with young men for a living. we've had detectives from the sex crimes unit come and talk to them about the laws around sex, what is legal, and what isn't. I call it being informed.
And yet at least one of those men is likely to rape a woman this year despite these efforts.

So ... women must protect themselves.

Abandoning your personal responsibility is a big sin in my book. Men that couldn't keep the one eyed trouser snake in their shorts because of alcohol or power, that is Ok, though. Abusing someone and taking advantage of a weakness, that is not manly, it is weak and just pathetic.
What?

True. But that doesn't mean we should stop educating men and pushing them to hold each other accountable.

It's crazy that Kasich couldn't think of a single thing he could do about men raping women.

Yoing men should avoid dangerous situations such as drunken parties in which they are risk of becoming a victim too.

Telling women to avoid drunken parties absolve men of the responsibility to stop rapes that they witness? Uh ... not in my universe.

However, most rapists do their thing when there aren't cogent witnesses. Such as in nearby bedrooms durung drunken parties.

You're an idiot.

What do you mean, WHAT?
I mean WHAT by WHAT. You made no sense.

Your assumption is that all rapes occur because women are drinking at parties.

That is not the case.

This girl was raped outside of a library: In the aftermath of an attack, Bloomingdale library rape victim finds her angels

This one at a bus stop: Woman brutally beaten, sexually assaulted near United Center

This one in her dorm room: Woman Raped at SF State Dorms

This one in a dorm room by a guy she'd dated for 2 weeks: Vanderbilt player found guilty of rape in retrial

This one in her dorm room: Student: Man entered her Boston University dorm, raped her

See, your position is that rape only happens to women because of something women do.

But actually, RAPE HAPPENS TO WOMEN BECAUSE OF SOMETHING MEN DO.

That's what most women would like men like you to understand. We don't cause rape because we have a beer.

How is it possible to not know rape is a crime....come on

Statutory rape: I'm working with a young guy right now who is 24. When he was 19, he had sex with a 15 year old girl that he thought was 17. She wasn't. He was charged with statutory rape and did 3 years in prison.

He's also now a sex offender...for the next 30 years.

Affirmative consent: Men need to be very clear that the women is actively consenting to sexual contact. If a woman is drunk or under the influence of drugs, and he has sex with her, he could be charged with rape because she had diminished capacity to consent to sex. It happens all the time. One of my boys who was charged with rape was charged with rape because he had sex with a girl who'd passed out from drinking.

Snapchats & sexting: If you send and receive photos of minor girls, that is child pornography and can be a federal felony, even if you don't know the girl is underaged.

Do you think the average 16 year old boy knows this stuff?

If they don't already know by the time they are 18 they are mentally retarded. Furthermore, they are already deluged by that kind of crap in the public schools. The real intention of these programs is to reinforce the idea the males are all sociopaths and deserve to be treated like criminal suspects.

I dont think there is anything wrong with what the guy said nor do I see where anyone has claimed thats the only way women get raped......
