No, you misunderstand what Texas is doing in the MIDDLE OF THE DECADE.

The constitution States to proportionately redraw lines of representation based on the once every 10 year Census.

Texas already gerrymandered their districts to reflect their new Census Population and gained additional republican congressional seats in their gerrymandering of districts.

What they are doing now is MID CENSUS redrawing of seats which has NEVER BEEN DONE IN OUR COUNTRY'S HISTORY. Done using A/I for the sole purpose of securing 5 more seats in the House for Republicans because the cheating President asked them to.

This is not the once every ten year census redistricting and gerrymandering based on new population figures....that was done already.

This is in your face, cheating for a party win....mid season,
and population changes not considered, it's done solely to cheat and gain more power.

My perception of the country took a radical about face after Dotard's election. It hasn't been the same since and will never go back to what it was. I was dumb enough to think we were the exception to the rule. That Americans would not fall victim to the siren song of a would be dictator. How very wrong I was.

Staying high was a noble but perhaps naive aspiration. But now Dem's need to meet the moment. It appears that is what's happening. A number of governors around the country plan to counter trump's attempt to gerrymander his way to keeping the House in Repub's hands.

It is disheartening to see matters come to this. To have to cheat in response to a cheater. (Yes, I know both parties have gerrymandered. But never as trump has directed in TX.) I hope this is the only time taking such actions is necessary. I hope American politics can climb out of the gutter where trump put it. I hope he hasn't permanently changed the paradigm. I hope the GOP can find its way back to decency once trump has been relegated to the bloviating, barstool crank he is. And I hope it happens soon.
