I am a pilot. This amounts to a fake argument for this reason. I would not be hired to manage Denver International Airport merely being a pilot. And the person you talked about would be over the FAA. Very different jobs.

The country is majority white. That means that in the MAJORITY of cases, the most qualified and competent person will be white. It’s simple math. Now if you have a policy that essentially commands “hire fewer whites,” in most cases you will not get the best person for the job - be it a flight controller, a surgeon, a press secretary, or a vice president.

There's a manufacturing plant near where I work. They run a mostly Latino machine shop. However the people that solder circuit boards are all white, and the people that make cables are all Chinese. The blacks run stock, purchasing, and facilities.

I asked the owners about it, they said white people don't have the patience to make cables, and Latinos don't know the fancy engineering words in the part descriptions.

So, everyone ends up working where they're most qualified. Everyone works, but according to their skills and their demeanor.

The company as a whole, is very impressive. They do everything in house, they don't outsource a thing.

This is 2025 and there are 4 black head coaches in the NFL right now. Morris, Tomlin, Ryans, Bowles. Mayo and Pierce were fired. Canales is not black and that makes 5 non white head coaches.

Trump's nominee for FAA chief is Bryan Keith Bedford, CEO of Republic Airways. But before he went into management he was/is an experienced private and commercial pilot flying large and small airliners. His reputation is quite excellent with all who have worked for and with him. Alas he is being nominated on merit and not via DEI criteria so of course the left is already trashing him.

Biden's guy that stepped down was heavy on the creds too.

Phillip Washington had excellent creds in his area of expertise, however it wasn't a fit for FAA admin....no matter what race he was.
