Anyone who has served in a theater of combat operations since 1991 is a combat veteran and that would indeed include the cook on an aircraft carrier.
Any one who served overseas in Viet Nam is a combat veteran, same for WWII Vets.
She did not lie.
It's a whole different matter when you are IN COMBAT, those who receive more pay or receive awards while in combat.
Now it would have been a lie if she had said she received a combat action badge which she never did.
The person who wrote about this in the Huffington Post article last Friday, should have done some homework first.
