Senator Chris Coons asks Republican Senators as to whether Trump can run for a 3rd term. Here are the surprising answers!

Is Trump worth ignoring the Constitution and us becoming an Authoritarian regime?

  • Yes

    Votes: 5 41.7%
  • No

    Votes: 7 58.3%

  • Total voters
    12
You're referring to Trump's pushing Pence to refuse to certify.

The Left interprets this as Trump attempting to remain in office despite the vote, in maintenance of their fallacious 'dictator' perspective.

Trump was acting based on his (and others) understanding of the 12th Amendment and a legitimate concern that fraud took place.

How is that acting against? It's the way the system works and why we have a Judicial branch that can make such determinations.

What was the upshot? The election was certified and Trump stepped down, contradicting the conspiracy theories that he wouldn't.

Once Trump declared fraud, out came the Democrat knives to destroy him. I don't believe this was a patriotic act on their part, given the 3 year farce that took place after. The non-stop effort to unseat Trump (that began during his campaign) can also well serve as an example that the priority of the Democrats was and is to unseat anti-Establishment Trump, who demonstrated that his promise to drain the Swamp weren't empty.

And IMO, cheating in Elections is well within the Democrat wheelhouse.

A bit of research will tell you that most if not all US Presidents/admins have been accused of acting against the Constitution in some way. Some have been upheld, some struck down, some unresolved.
The 12th amendment says the the vice president shall "open all the certificates and the votes shall then be counted." They can't be counted if the vice president discards electors and sends it back to the state.

Once Trump declared fraud, out came the Democrat knives to destroy him.
Only Trump declared fraud.
None of the states that did recounts and audits
No courts that found his suits to be frivolous
Not Congress

Crybaby Loser

Nah; the amendment was only approved in 1951 or so. It can be removed just as easily without affecting the rest of the Constitution. lol

Greg
Though that is correct, it is a ratified amendment and until it is taken out, it is a rule that must be followed. Changing any amendment is a long and complicated process that is not currently being worked on, meaning that trying to go around it is still unconstitutional. As such, your post and your fake truth assessment/rating is pure bullshit.

I see what you're saying. You're saying that you are scared shitless that if Trump ran for a third term he would win.
You always take things to the extreme, meaning YOU are an extemist.

By the way, where is your comment on the OP itself? Do you think that voting Trump in for a 3rd term is constitutionally possible?

Coons is pretty stupid to ask that question. The Amendment says one can't be elected again. It does not say one can't run again. Obama can run again but he can't be elected again.
Evidently he wasn’t.

Because the nominees were unwilling to stand behind the 22nd amendment

For at least the last 50 years conservatives have been enemies of the rule of law, limiting the authority of the state, and protecting individual liberty – seeking more government, bigger government at the expense of individual liberty, seeking to disenfranchise voters of color, and seeking to eliminate the right to due process and equal protection of the law.

The myth is that prior to Trump, the GOP was a right of center political party interested in sound governance and responsible public policy – when in fact nothing could be further from the truth.

It’s the authoritarian conservative movement hostile to the Constitution and our democratic institutions that manifested the political malignancy that is Trump.

Jones, I consider you an idiot. Go from there

I'd be interested to hear specifics on Trump supporters 'defiance of Constitutional Amendments" and how he goes against the Constitution and existing laws. Sans the opinion, please. And not including the opinions of those who took the survey. Political forum posts and polls as a whole aren't an accurate representation.
It has not yet officially happened, but the answers given to Coons means that they are open to the idea and being OPEN to the idea, means they are open to going against the Constitution. This also means that they are not true believers in what the Constitutional amendment means and are not willing to support it.

The Amendment CAN be removed. End of story. NOT bullshit at all. The leftards are claiming that not following the amendment would destroy the Constitution. Rubbish. It is a relatively new amendment How many Republican states are there?

Republicans currently control 28 state legislatures nationwide. [1]
A breakdown of party control across all 50 states includes:
  • Republican-Controlled: 28 states (both legislative chambers)
I could indeed see it passed IF Obama was seen as being able to run again. Dems would love it!!!

For those seeking a Federal Judgeship

I've always opposed term limits. We only got them because of Republican crybabies and the FDR haters kept losing because they didn't represent anybody but themselves. It denies voters the right to keep a successful President in office. Term limits are built in to the system already.

You want real change, then bring back literacy tests and add civics tests on top of those. The excuses for banning them has long ago disappeared.

That's 56%. 75% of the states are needed.

The amendment has been in place for 75 years. That means it is NOT new and has been adhered to for all of these years. Anything about the Constitution can be changed (no matter the age it has been around). You either believe in the Constitution (no matter the age they have been there) or not. You have to follow it no matter what, and if you don't you are a traitor (until it is changed).

are you aware of any process going on right now to change that?

If not, you are considered a traitor at THIS TIME!

Oh, and by the way, it takes 38 states to change the Constitution, meaning your 28 red states mean nothing!

It seems that Republicans do not want to support our Constitution.

The Unconstitutional Conservatives

Not too long ago, Republicans believed in the rule of law, limiting the power of government, and protecting individual liberty. Then came Donald Trump.

and here is what would happen if we ignored the Constitution

AI Overview

Ignoring the United States Constitution would likely lead to a rapid descent into an authoritarian regime, as the Constitution serves as the foundational legal framework that limits government power and protects individual rights. Without it, the system of checks and balances, civil liberties, and the rule of law would collapse, allowing those in power to govern unchecked.

The consequences of abandoning the Constitution would unfold across several critical areas:
  • Loss of Civil Liberties: The government could legally restrict or eliminate fundamental rights like freedom of speech, the freedom of the press, the right to bear arms, and protections against unreasonable searches (often guaranteed by the Bill of Rights).
  • Consolidation of Power: The dismantling of the separation of powers means the executive, legislative, and judicial branches would no longer act as checks on one another. This centralization is a defining characteristic of an authoritarian or dictatorial system.
  • Erosion of the Rule of Law: Without the supreme law of the land, legal protections in the criminal justice system—such as the right to a fair trial and habeas corpus—could disappear. This would open the door to arbitrary arrests and detainment without cause.
  • Threats to Democratic Elections: Constitutional provisions regarding the structure of elections and term limits (such as the 22nd Amendment) could be altered or abolished, enabling leaders to extend their rule indefinitely. [1]
  • Economic and Social Instability: The breakdown of constitutional order typically causes severe institutional instability, likely triggering widespread protests, economic disruptions, and a total loss of public faith in government institutions.
Why do the Republicans want this to happen? Is Trump worth it?

Do you check under your bed for Trump at bed time?

Vance will finish the job Trump started. Then maybe one of Trump’s sons will run.

Yes and there are probably a few who would desire the opportunity for Obama to run again. What a fight; Obama V Trump. lol

Ain't gonna happen but....ya never know. lol

Greg

Do you mean his "cult" would turn on him?

Talking about cult love, You do know that the Jim Jones cult all committed suicide at the request of their leader, don't you? So, you believe the Trump cult will turn on him if he wants/decides to be president for a 3rd term?

Hahahahaha

Don’t flatter yourself, the Trump faithful are just like the democrat faithful
