Senate votes to override Obama veto on 9/11 bill

The Senate voted overwhelmingly Wednesday to overturn President Obama’s veto of a bill letting families of Sept. 11 victims sue the Saudi Arabian government, bringing Congress within reach of completing the first successful veto override of Obama’s presidency.

The Senate voted 97-1 to reject the veto. The measure heads next to the House, where lawmakers will need to muster a two-thirds majority, as in the Senate, to override.

Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., speaking on the Senate floor moments before Wednesday's vote, pushed back hard on Saudi government objections to the legislation, which has broad bipartisan support on Capitol Hill.

Maybe now the idiot will understand he's just another lame duck President... The only Democratic Senator to vote against the override was Harry Reid which tell me the override was the correct thing to do...

Nancy Pelosi was quoted she will vote for the override in the House, so it seem like President Obama is being told by his own political party that he was wrong on this one issue...

Now how long before some radical nutter from the fringe left proclaims that the GOP is at fault and hate America?

Pretty funny - I may vote for Trump solely because I think he hates W and will re-open the 911 investigation...

Should be interesting. The reports I read say the House will probably follow suit.

Pretty darn good run if you ask me. He almost went the whole 8 years without getting 1 of 13 vetoes overridden.

Dubya had 4 of 12 vetoes overridden
Bill Clinton 2 of 37 vetoes overridden
George H W Bush only 1 of 44 vetoes overridden
Ronnie Raygun 9 of 78 vetoes overridden
Jimmy Carter 2 of 31 vetoes overridden

It's really curious that BO is so out of touch with his own base on this issue. Unless...maybe he isn't. If he isn't out of touch with his base then who is his base? What? Did somebody say the Saudi government?

What about suing the Bush administration for failing to protect the eastern seaboard and then allowing Saudi Royals and members of the Bin Laden family leave directly after 9/11, effectively shielding them from investigation?
