Senate Democrats Plan to Adjourn Without Passing Budget for Third Consecutive Year

Troll thread, If any of you think the budget can originate in the senate then you do not even know enough to have an opinion.

Just another Democrat debacle. Why are so many voting for Democrats again? I don't get it.

The Senate has budgets that were passed by the House and sent to the Senate that Harry will not bring up for a vote.

Well, gee. Thanks for the civics lesson - all missing the little bit about various committee hearings in both houses that can go on forever.

However, it's very clear that NOTHING gets through the Senate without Dingy Harry's vote. Isn't it a shame that ONE MAN can gridlock this nation?

However, the SENATE can introduce a budget resolution which much go to and be passed by the House. But, Dingy Harry doesn't even allow that!

So, all this does is show how vital it is for the GOP to gain a majority in the Senate. Without it, we are screwed no matter who is president or how many Republicans we have in the House.

You think the senate should be doing the house's job of preparing a budget? Do you think it can get less screwed up if they try to do it backwards? Do you think the house is prepared to negotiate in good faith on anything that comes from the senate? Give it up, you seem to be familiar with the budget process, house has passed one budget since 2010 that was actually an unrealistic political statement that they refused to negotiate within the process, the teabaggers in the house are not going to accept anything less than the senate totally knuckling under and just passing their shit.

So Obama has a 1.089 TRILLION dollar budget deficit AGAIN this year and the LYING LIAR LIBERALS try to blame it on a budget.. ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!

So what??!
Senate Democrats Plan to Adjourn Without Passing Budget for Third Consecutive Year

George W. Bush granted two tax cuts to the wealthy using reconciliation to block Democrat opposition, began to borrow money to cover the shortfall, started two wars....one totally unnecessary then ran the costs of the wars with emergency spending bills(off budget) then proceeded to double the national debt. One of the first things the president did was put the wars back ON BUDGET! You damn Fox News fans make my rectum crave buttermilk.

The Senate Democrats refuse to vote on a budget bill because it would have a cost (deficit) associated with it. Shameful and INDEFENSIBLE.

Isn't this the way it's supposed to work?

House passes a bill, sends it to the Senate for vote, Senate don't like some things and changes some and passes it, sends it back to House to vote, House likes some things but not others, changes some things. House passes bill, sends it back to Senate. If Senate likes it, they pass it and sends it to President. If the President likes it, he signs it and it becomes law. If he don't like it, he vetoes it and sends it back to be done again.

In this case, House passes budget, sends it to Senate. The Senate sits on it and don't vote on it. House passes another, sends it to Senate. The Senate sits on it and don't vote on it.

See a pattern? Now, who's being obstructive?

The House as always. The senate is not obligated to pass their corporate friendly budget. What happened to the part of your scenario where the house makes some changes?

You're being obtuse.

Except when the Democrats held it... right? That's just different

Yanno..............it used to be that if a bill got 51 votes in the Senate, it would pass.

Now? It's because of the Republican "super majority" rule that has made it 60.

Many times the bill would have passed the Senate if it was a simple majority rules like it used to be.

Coincidentally the Republicans used reconciliation to block Democratic opposition when George Bush cut taxes for the wealthy twice...in 2001 and again in 2003. Bush took a surplus, cut the federal income twice, started two wars...one totally by choice then spent a trillion dollars in Iraq, lost about 4400 young Americans and doubled the national debt. He also quit caring about his good oil buddies....the Bin Ladens less than a year after 9-11....if you can believe that any true patriot would do that:

Who needs a stinkin' budget?

Dims think actually passing a budget is optional. Ya know. Fuck their job. That's for the little people.

An omnibus spending bill or budget is a relatively new practice in our history and many on both sides of the aisle would just as soon avoid the political minefield they must traverse to produce one every year, not just democrats.

How can you budget uncapitalized spending ?

I am budgeting X to spend unknown amounts I don't have in the future ?

Jeeze. And here I thought the House has passed two budgets to the Senates none??

The senate didn't agree with the crappy budget the House wanted, like Medicare changes.

So what stopped the senate from passing its own budget, or taking up the budget the house passed, and making the changes they wanted? Can you say Prince Harry.

Actuall you fail to understand the Constitution, only bills that raise revenues are required to originate in the house. Spending bills can be originated in either. See article 1, section 7, clause 1.
