What did Trump do? McConnell blocked Obama from filling seats and then packed the courts with young Conservatives

:boo_hoo14:
Very True

Republicans won and there was nothing Democrat’s could do. Mitch McConnell trampled on years of Senate protocol and precedence to pack his court.

Stepped on a lot of toes and burnt all bridges of cooperation.

Democrats are in a mood to retaliate.
Packing the court and ending filibuster are likely retaliations

Didn‘t work before, won’t work now.

Everything in life has Consequences

Those consequences could be adding judges to the court or ending the filibuster

Another consequence will be an end of cooperation with Republicans

When were Democrats “cooperating” with Republicans in the past 4 years?
After 8 years of Republican gridlock under Obama, a new form of politics was in play.
Republicans had done nothing to earn cooperation, they didn’t get any
all you scum of the demonrat party do is whine, whine, whine, when it dont go your way. thats real helpful. if that dont work, pig-lousy threatens, thats adult like. the biggest problem within your party is the douchebag pig-lousy. this twat thinks you owe it. as soon as this piece of garbage is disposed of, maybe the 2 could work together.

doubt it...look at the new crop...

Elections have consequences.

If Trump wins and Republicans retain control of the Senate we can pack the court and Dems won't oppose it?

They will need the House also

If Dems take all three, why should they not use their power?
Because it would be stupid and appear to the centrists to be a open move to grasp political power at any cost. That would cost the Democrats in the next election in 2022.

You think appointing Barrett doesn't look like an open move to grasp political power?

It looks like another HUGE win for president Trump to me! :eusa_dance:

Sure, but you are a crazy Trump supporter, and not a centrist.
and you are a crazy demonrat who has no issues with extortion, pedophilia, crackheads, and lying ....

I don’t think Biden supports packing the court and there are moderate Dem Senators who oppose it.

If the Conservative Court acts like a traditional court, I doubt Dems will try to add seats.

But if the Conservative Court becomes a rubber stamp for an extreme Conservative agenda, I think the Dems hand will be forced.

Let’s see how they rule on Obamacare and Roe

My take on the PRESENT supreme court is----they are not a bunch of reactionary NUTS. Obamacare
NEEDS modification and my impression is---beyond allowing organizations to OPT OUT of
financial support thereof for "religion" or
"spiritual" reasons-----nothing much is going to
happen to Roe v Wade. For the record----doctors should NOT be forced to do non medically indicated abortions and bakers should not be
FORCED to top wedding cakes with two gentleman. A professional has rights too.
My gut feeling is that this court will not deliver the decisions expected by Conservatives

They may nibble at the edges and allow more restrictions on Roe while they rule on funding the mandate not Obamacare as a whole.
Their leaning will be obvious in the first few decisions

Your side already ended the fillbusters moron..........Your side started this.........And had you been in with these appointments you would have done it again.

Pardon me when we say up yours......NOT.

Only filibusters of presidential decisions

Ending the Senate filibuster entirely will allow Dems to put limits on guns, repeal tax cuts on the wealthy, pass immigration reform, protect the environment.

What cooperation commie? It has to start before it can end.

.
Democrats have always cooperated with Republicans, at least in their own view. Unfortunately, their view of cooperation is that Republicans give fifty percent while Democrats take fifty percent.

Democrats cooperated with George Bush
Republicans refused to cooperate with Obama and did not support a single piece of legislation

You dumbasses had a super majority in the first two years, and you squandered it with a do nothing President that was happy to tell us to get in the back of the bus....now you don’t like it...tough shit.
^^^ another idiot.

G'head, see if you could do what other rightards could not... quote Obama telling you to get in back of the bus...

DNC party of we hate the 2nd Amendment..........except those 2 dozen armed security guards we have protecting us...............tax the shit out of anything that moves.........Open borders for the votes because we have to import voters because most of America really hates us............and say we protect the environment as we EXPORT the enviro damage from Solar Power to Asia and Africa and say how great we are.....and ignore the strip mining and pollution there for so called clean energy.

There .......fixed your talking points.

anyone want to know what a Biden win would mean------spend some time in New York City

What did Trump do?

Didn't block anything. Just didn't call a vote. His right.

And it will be the Democrat's right to add more members to the court.
That is a horrible idea, no natter which side does it.
I can’t stress that enough.

McConnell blocking all those Obama appointments and leaving them for Trump to fill was a horrible idea. Now that your party set the precedent, it's a little late for you to start whining about what your party set in motion.

McConnell blocking all those Obama appointments and leaving them for Trump to fill was a horrible idea.

How many did he block?

Now that your party set the precedent,

You think 2015-2016 was the first time a Senate controlled by an opposing party has left some
court seats open at the end of a President's term? LOL!
They just don’t seem to get it.
Then they take their perceived slight, and think “well then we will do this!” And plan to do something incredibly stupid (pack the court.
Despite me saying repeatedly that I would be opposed to anyone doing it, and telling them it’s an absolutely horrible road to go down, they keep responding like bitter little partisans.
Hey clowns, ITS A HORRIBLE IDEA NO MATTER WHO DOES IT!!!

You understand this is an anonymous chat board, and nobody gives a shit what you say, don't you?
Irony.

They ended judicial filibusters because Republicans were blocking most of Obama's nominees. They were abusing filibusters...

... what was McConnell's reason for ending filibusters on Supreme Court nominees?

True. Kerry, Clinton, Edwards, Schumer and Biden all voted to go to war with Iraq.

They supported the President
Democrats also supported Bush on No Child left Behind, Medicare Part D, Afghanistan, Homeland Security, Patriot Act, TARP

Republicans refused to support Obama on anything
Why support a Socialist, anti-America agenda?

Do you ever get tired of being proven wrong, idiot?

110th Congress[edit]
At the beginning of the 110th Congress in January 2007, President Bush did not renominate Boyle, Myers, Haynes and Wallace in an attempt at reconciliation with the Democrats.[18] However, that did not stop many Bush judicial nominees from being blocked in committee by the new Democratic chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Senator Patrick Leahy. Among those stalled in committee until their nominations lapsed were appellate nominees Peter Keisler, Robert J. Conrad, Steve A. Matthews and Glen E. Conrad. The latter three seats would later be filled by Obama nominees James A. Wynn Jr., Albert Diaz, and Barbara Milano Keenan.

Senator Harry Reid, the Democratic Majority Leader, and Chairman Leahy cited the previous controversy over President Clinton's court of appeals nominees in justifying why only ten Bush appellate nominees were confirmed during the 110th Congress.[19][20][21] A total of eleven appellate seats with Bush nominees were left open at the end of the 110th Congress. Of those seats, two (i.e. the North Carolina and Maryland seats of the Fourth Circuit) had originally become available to fill during the administration of President Bill Clinton.
