Sea Lion Attacks Are On The Rise

Sea Lions are a protected species, you can’t even force them to move off your boat. The environmentalists consider that to be harassing them. They are an amphibious predator and can be very dangerous.

What round for environmentalists?

Oh, never mind.

I feel sorry for the baby seal, but I don't like the person saying to drown the dog either.
Had they acted more quickly the dog would have released, before it had actually drowned. The dog needs to be put down. Along with any dog that does not release on command, or attacks without command for that matter.

If one jumps in my boat, I'm either going to kick it off or eat it. Then it'll learn not to jump in boats.
It's not so much they jump into moving boats as they decide to turn a docked boat into a home. Once that happens you can't do anything to make them leave. In Ventura where I used to dock my Catalina, the live aboards would walk around a lot talking loudly to discourage sea lions before they got too comfortable. Oh, by the way, sea lions are very territorial.

Believe me, any lion on my boat, I would make WANT to leave, SORRY it stayed, or just on my DINNER plate.

What about the ones at the zoo? Would you want to eat them?

Steller Sea Lion Recipes

Sea Lion Ribs
Cut the ribs up in manageable size pieces. Salt and pepper the ribs. Broil until crispy. This recipe is better if cooked over a fire or coals. Barbeque sauce can be used, but just plain salt and pepper is best.

Sea Lion Liver or Heart
After soaking over night, cut liver or heart in small steak size pieces. Dip the steak pieces in seasoned flour mix (flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder) and fry in grease. This recipe is very good fried with onions.

Sea Lion Steak
Cut steak size pieces from the shoulder area and season with salt, pepper, and garlic. Fry or broil. Also good on the barbeque.

Sea Lion Roast
Cut meat from the breast area, place in roasting pan with lots of onions, a few potatoes, and carrots. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 2 hours. Roasting bags can be used and makes for a very tender roast.

Beach-Fire Sea Lion Shoulder Roast
Take the shoulder blade with plenty of meat on it, season with salt, pepper and garlic, then wrap in tin foil. Place shoulder blade side down on coals. About 15 minutes before finished cooking, place beach peas, greens and burnet in the foil with some Lee & Perrins sauce. Cook until done.

I would rather have pig, cow, or chicken to eat thank you very much. Some seafood is good, but I just can't picture eating what I see at the zoo. That just seems too strange to me.

Kids grow up watching cutsie cartoons of sea creatures and Disney fantasies so it's no wonder Darwin's list sometimes clicks in and they get mauled for trying to kiss a sea lion.

How do you think these sea lions got so endangered! :eusa_think:

It is all good: I've had shark fin, thick tuna filet, octopus, squid, swordfish, calamari--- if any sea lions want to jump up into my boat and then refuse to leave, I cannot be responsible for the outcome. :SMILEW~130:

Sea lion? What sea lion? Survival of the fittest.
