For the GOP, last night’s SOTU address was the hot ticket in D.C. The US Supreme Court chief justice John Roberts was in attendance with his fellow Supreme Court Nazis in tow.
Roberts looked strangely tired after his two weeks presiding over Donald Trump’s Senate make-believe impeachment trial. How he could be tired is unknown, after all, every “ruling” he was required to make had already been decided by Moscow Mitch. All Roberts needed to do was follow his script and sell-out what small measure of ethics he still had.
Roberts, Kagan, Gorsuch, and Kavanaugh had their act for their SOTU appearance well rehearsed. They smiled, stood, and applauded as Moscow Mitch had choreographed. They did so well, it was reported trump gave them all a pat on the head after the show. (Maybe at next year’s SOTU, Roberts and his three stooges can squeal like fourteen-year-old girls did for the Beatles.)
For Roberts and his conservative court cohorts, their jobs are going to be much less stressful now that Roberts has helped Moscow Mitch and the Senate Republicans elevate trump above the rule of law.
In the future, decisions will be taken out of the hands of Roberts & Co., current conservative federal judges, and the 187 federal judges appointed by trump. All legal decisions will be written by trusted lobbyists, by Moscow Mitch, and trump himself. Roberts and his conservative entourage will simply rubber-stamp the paperwork to satisfy any possible constitutional requirements that haven't already been reinterpreted.
Now, with all his impeachment worries behind him, trump's pronouncements will be treated as law, whether by executive order, verbal command, or tweet. This will simplify Roberts life, so he will no longer need concern himself with being exhausted by trump’s antics.
In fact, with trump being above the law, perhaps the 2020 election can be eliminated completely. With no more than a stroke of his mighty pen, trump has the Supreme Court to legitimatize any and all whims, so there is no one who can stop him. He is no longer accountable to anyone. (Bolton could be on his way to lock-up at this moment.)
