Schumer will filibuster voter ID law

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is facing accusations of hypocrisy after threatening to block Republican legislation aimed at ensuring only U.S. citizens vote in American elections.
The bill in question, Republican Utah Sen. Mike Lee’s Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, would require proof of citizenship during the voter registration process. Schumer announced his intention to filibuster the bill if Republican Senate Majority Leader John Thune brings it to the floor. This stance has drawn criticism, given Schumer’s past efforts to weaken the filibuster.

Comment:
Voter fraud violates everyone's right to vote.
Why is Schumer against protecting everyone's right to vote?
Is Schumer admitting that the Democrats benefit from voter fraud?
He has to show up Cory Booker.

There has been no proven fraud. This is about making it harder to vote and that is all. If Democrats don't filibuster this then they should resign.
Click on each state to get a list showing what a lying sack of vermin shit you are.

And how is it making it harder to vote? Who doesn’t have a photo ID, Simp?

Sure, you don't want to talk about the REAL ISSUES.

Let's talk about why the Republicans want to have voter ID. They want it because they think they can win elections by stopping POOR PEOPLE from voting. It has nothing to do with non-Americans voting. They just don't want the poor to vote.

Here's a case in England:

"ID rules stopped 14,000 people voting, watchdog finds"

"
Ethnic minorities and unemployed voters were more likely to be turned away, research by the watchdog suggests.
"Significantly more" were put off voting by the requirement to show ID at polling stations, the report found."

"Lib Dem spokesperson Helen Morgan said the policy "looks like a transparent attempt at voter suppression by Conservative ministers who are desperate to stop people from holding them to account"."

They blame the Conservative Party, equivalent of the Republican Party, for this.

The UK does have a system in place for getting voting ID.

"Only 25,000 of the 90,000 free Voter Authority Certificates applied for before May's election were used as a form of ID."

"If you do not have a photo ID that allows you to vote, you can apply for a ‘Voter Authority Certificate’ for free. This is a paper document with your photo on it that you can use to prove your identity when voting in England, Scotland or Wales."

While this isn't that difficult, many people, poorer people, are less likely to vote because of this. (And it doesn't matter why, it's just a case that it is like this).

Why does the Democratic Party oppose this? For the same reasons, it's more likely to be Democratic voters who can't vote.

But again, does it matter? Your vote basically doesn't count, it doesn't matter who you want.

In Germany in 2017 the CDU/CSU got less than 40% of the vote and more than 77% of the seats with FPTP. With PR less people voted for them, and they got something like 34% of the seats.

Why? Because people had a PROPER CHOICE.

NOBODY is going for or after voter registration because they "believe in democracy". They're doing it to get more of an unfair advantage than they already have.
Didn't realize we bow to the 👑

Make him do it.

The hypocrisy is this:

You claim that "voter fraud" is important. But you don't talk about changing the electoral system

When people vote, their choice is not taken. People basically only have a viable choice of two people, two parties. That's not proper choice.

You can have as much voter fraud as you like, and it probably wouldn't change things that much, the two main parties would still be in charge.

Do you actually care about DEMOCRACY, or is this just a little game people play?

I mean, the Republicans have RedMap which is literally designed to CHEAT in elections.
We are a Representative Republic, not a Democracy.

Who doesn’t have an ID?

Pure bullshit. Despite what you think, minorities are not too lazy or stupid to get an ID. How do I know? They say so. They already use an ID for multiple things every day.

Here is a video exposing your racist, liberal lies.

How many illegal people actually vote? It's already against the law for non-US citizens to vote. Illegal immigrants are already illegal, so I doubt they'd bother telling the authorities that they're around.

"A number of studies, both from conservative and left-leaning organisations, suggest instances of illegal immigrants voting in US federal elections are very rare."

"It found that out of 23.5 million votes counted in these states, an estimated 30 suspected incidents of non-citizens voting were referred for further investigation."

So, you're looking at 0.00013% of all voters are "suspected incidents" of non-citizens voting. That's illegal and legal non-citizens. And this is "suspected", not found.

"An analysis of a database which collected election fraud cases between 1999 and 2023 by the Heritage Foundation, a conservative research group, found 77 instances of non-citizens voting."

Even the conservatives found 77 instances of non-citizens voting in 25 years. Imagine what the percent is here. And yes, of course, maybe not all of them are found. But still. How many elections do you think matter because of non-US citizens?

It's not about non-US citizens, it's about preventing legal citizens from voting. Especially the poor.
So you are so stupid you think every instance is caught and prosecuted?

Every drunk driver is caught too, huh?

For every instance in your link Americans were DISENFRANCHISED.

You can’t provide a single example of someone who was disenfranchised by voter ID laws.

So, since your main two reasons to oppose ID laws are obvious lies, what else ya got?

I don't know why this guy finds it necessary to prove himself every day. Everyone already knows he's an idiot.
Because idiots vote for idiots. It's not an accident that these people are in Office. They represent who votes for them.

Scumbag politicians come from scumbag voters. It's not complicated at all. Scumbag voters come from scumbag States. Scumbag residents create scumbag States.

See? Simple.

Several Red states, Idaho, Missouri, and Iowa, have uncovered over 300,000 ineligible voters in their voting registers, including inactive, disqualified, deceased, non-citizen, or duplicate voters.

The discovery raises serious questions about the situation in Deep Blue states that fight tooth and nail any attempt to scrutinize voters. It also coincided with the Department of Government Efficiency finding illegal immigrants in voter rolls and recommending them for prosecution.

On March 14, Missouri Secretary of State Denny Hoskins worked with local election authorities to remove 18,637 deceased voters from the state’s voter rolls. The state also found another 133,520 inactive voters and 4,000 others who were disqualified for various reasons, including being duplicated, incapacitated, convicted of a felony, or having relocated from the state.

“In Missouri, we are taking action—not just making promises—when it comes to election integrity,” said Secretary Hoskins. “By working hand-in-hand with local election officials, we have removed outdated registrations, strengthening confidence in our elections and making sure every vote cast is legitimate.”

On March 19, Idaho Secretary of State Phil McGrane (R) removed 144,121 ineligible voters who were either inactive, ineligible, or had relocated. The state sent individual notices to affected voters before removing them from the state’s voter rolls to avoid any complaints. The cleanup exercise also intended to ensure that only U.S. citizens could vote in line with the state’s executive order, the Only Citizens Will Vote Act.

On March 20, Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate (R) also disclosed that 277 non-citizens were found in the state’s voter rolls. Surprisingly, 35 successfully voted during the November 2024 election, while five attempted and failed to cast their ballots. Fifteen of those who successfully voted returned absentee ballots. All the illegal votes successfully cast were counted during the presidential election.

Another 22 noncitizens had also registered to vote in Iowa but did not attempt to cast their ballots. However, 2,186 non-citizens could have registered, voted, or attempted to cast their ballots if the Hawkeye State could not access the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) program to compare citizenship data with its Department of Transportation. Ironically, Washington, D.C. later denied the state of Iowa the USCIS immigration data for clarification, hampering its effort to clean the voting register. Nonetheless, all cases of attempted voter fraud have been referred for investigation

Redmap is a Republican national gerrymandering campaign.

"REDMAP (short for Redistricting Majority Project) is a project of the Republican State Leadership Committee of the United States to increase Republican control of congressional seats, as well as state legislatures, largely through manipulating electoral district boundaries."

Essentially cheating. FPTP is generally cheating, in my view, but manipulating it even more.

In the UK boundaries for constituencies are done by a commission that is not political. They have to generally explain their decisions and it's about having X amount of people, more or less, in an area put into the same constituency.
We can see the results of Redmap.

That is cheating. And why?

In 2014 they used this map

Republicans got 55% of the votes and 10 out of 13 seats. That's 77% of the seats.
View attachment 1096989This is what it looks like after gerrymandering was taken away.

In 2022 Republicans got 52% of the votes and 7 out of 14 seats, 50% of the seats. Far more proportional.
Where is the map of Maryland?

Oh, yeah...a judge found their extreme gerrymandering unconditional and forced a new map be drawn.

That's the remedy.

Stop your incessant whining and take it to court.

You know, the dem states fought hard to prevent voter roll purges. Judicial Watch went to court and made them comply with the law. California, Pennsylvania were two.

Amazing the GOP states complied while some dem states fought it in court.

Not really amazing. It’s obvious the Dimwinger party is fighting tooth and nail for illegals to vote.

This is how scum of the Earth dimocrap filth operate, dewd.

They come in, tell a flat-out lie, get you to run around in circles, find and research the evidence that they're lying, put it up on the board and then they never answer it unless it's with another lie.

Meanwhile, they're laughing their asses off because you're gullible enough to think they're serious.

dimocraps are the scum of the Earth. They lie. They lie as a matter of course. It is what defines them, it is who they are. It is psychopathic with them because they don't even think it's immoral or unethical.

When I lie, I feel bad about. I know when I'm lying. dimocrap scum don't and even if they do..... They don't care.

Best thing to do with lying dimocrap scum is just remind them of what scum they are and move along. You can't fix them, you can't educate them you can't use logic on them.

They're just simply scum. And make no mistake. It is every single one of them. If they weren't scum, they wouldn't be dimocraps. simple
