Schumer will filibuster voter ID law

Dems require ID, multiple forms of ID for all sorts of things EXCEPT voting because that would get in the way of their cheating, rigging and stealing elections.
Everybody knows it...including Chuck Schumer! It's the reason they flooded the country with illegals. If they hadn't then liberal States like California would be losing multiple Congressional seats because they're losing population. The census doesn't differentiate between legal and illegal...it just counts heads. That's something that needs to change.

Would you like to take a crack at explaining why Democrats don't want to require valid ID in order for people to vote...but they DO require valid ID for anyone attending the Democratic National Convention? Love to hear it, Frigid...

Sure, you don't want to talk about the REAL ISSUES.

Let's talk about why the Republicans want to have voter ID. They want it because they think they can win elections by stopping POOR PEOPLE from voting. It has nothing to do with non-Americans voting. They just don't want the poor to vote.

Here's a case in England:

"ID rules stopped 14,000 people voting, watchdog finds"

"
Ethnic minorities and unemployed voters were more likely to be turned away, research by the watchdog suggests.
"Significantly more" were put off voting by the requirement to show ID at polling stations, the report found."

"Lib Dem spokesperson Helen Morgan said the policy "looks like a transparent attempt at voter suppression by Conservative ministers who are desperate to stop people from holding them to account"."

They blame the Conservative Party, equivalent of the Republican Party, for this.

The UK does have a system in place for getting voting ID.

"Only 25,000 of the 90,000 free Voter Authority Certificates applied for before May's election were used as a form of ID."

"If you do not have a photo ID that allows you to vote, you can apply for a ‘Voter Authority Certificate’ for free. This is a paper document with your photo on it that you can use to prove your identity when voting in England, Scotland or Wales."

While this isn't that difficult, many people, poorer people, are less likely to vote because of this. (And it doesn't matter why, it's just a case that it is like this).

Why does the Democratic Party oppose this? For the same reasons, it's more likely to be Democratic voters who can't vote.

But again, does it matter? Your vote basically doesn't count, it doesn't matter who you want.

In Germany in 2017 the CDU/CSU got less than 40% of the vote and more than 77% of the seats with FPTP. With PR less people voted for them, and they got something like 34% of the seats.

Why? Because people had a PROPER CHOICE.

NOBODY is going for or after voter registration because they "believe in democracy". They're doing it to get more of an unfair advantage than they already have.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is facing accusations of hypocrisy after threatening to block Republican legislation aimed at ensuring only U.S. citizens vote in American elections.
The bill in question, Republican Utah Sen. Mike Lee’s Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, would require proof of citizenship during the voter registration process. Schumer announced his intention to filibuster the bill if Republican Senate Majority Leader John Thune brings it to the floor. This stance has drawn criticism, given Schumer’s past efforts to weaken the filibuster.

Comment:
Voter fraud violates everyone's right to vote.
Why is Schumer against protecting everyone's right to vote?
Is Schumer admitting that the Democrats benefit from voter fraud?
Damn, didn't these idiots want to eliminate filibusters not that long ago? Now it's all they do.

How many illegal people actually vote? It's already against the law for non-US citizens to vote. Illegal immigrants are already illegal, so I doubt they'd bother telling the authorities that they're around.

"A number of studies, both from conservative and left-leaning organisations, suggest instances of illegal immigrants voting in US federal elections are very rare."

"It found that out of 23.5 million votes counted in these states, an estimated 30 suspected incidents of non-citizens voting were referred for further investigation."

So, you're looking at 0.00013% of all voters are "suspected incidents" of non-citizens voting. That's illegal and legal non-citizens. And this is "suspected", not found.

"An analysis of a database which collected election fraud cases between 1999 and 2023 by the Heritage Foundation, a conservative research group, found 77 instances of non-citizens voting."

Even the conservatives found 77 instances of non-citizens voting in 25 years. Imagine what the percent is here. And yes, of course, maybe not all of them are found. But still. How many elections do you think matter because of non-US citizens?

It's not about non-US citizens, it's about preventing legal citizens from voting. Especially the poor.

Should have gone with Spartacus.

Schumer's old body won't hold up past 8 hours.

(Laughs in India)

Can't or will not prove you are legal to vote you cannot vote........not rocket science here folks

The hypocrisy is this:

You claim that "voter fraud" is important. But you don't talk about changing the electoral system

When people vote, their choice is not taken. People basically only have a viable choice of two people, two parties. That's not proper choice.

You can have as much voter fraud as you like, and it probably wouldn't change things that much, the two main parties would still be in charge.

Do you actually care about DEMOCRACY, or is this just a little game people play?

I mean, the Republicans have RedMap which is literally designed to CHEAT in elections.
Feel free to split the Democrats into two parties. Nobody is stopping you.

Musk got ahold of social security data on 5 million illegals...then cross referenced it to discover many voted in our elections. Shocker right.

You on the left always wail about Democracy being in peril yet you keep trotting out the same tired trope that poor people somehow can't get an ID so that they can vote! It's a load of crap and you know it. Poor people drive. Poor people fly. Why is it they somehow manage to get ID for THAT...yet they can't do it to vote!

So let me see if I follow your "logic" here, Frigid! About 80% of Americans think that valid ID should be required in order to vote but you think the Democrats are fighting that to protect legal citizens from not being able to vote? That doesn't stand the smell test and I think you know it. The election in 2020 was decided by about 40,000 votes in a bunch of swing States. The truth is we have no idea how many non citizens voted in that election and we're not set up to monitor that. The fact that 77 instances of non citizens voting were prosecuted doesn't mean that far more than that number actually DID vote! This should be a common sense issue. The American people want to see valid ID to vote. Government should comply!

There has been no proven fraud. This is about making it harder to vote and that is all. If Democrats don't filibuster this then they should resign.
If democrats can’t mail in vote for Illegals, are we still a free country?

It all depends on who is President in 2030, hopefully, JD Vance.

Of course, the Socialist Demon Rats first bills , after stealing the November 2020 elections were S1. HR1, aka , For the People Act - it intended to legalize FRAUD in elections and to federalize elections.

You have no idea how close we came to being a Marxist Republic . SCARY

There are so many examples of the need for proper ID in our country that its laughable for libs to oppose voter ID

what is redmap?

Redmap is a Republican national gerrymandering campaign.

"REDMAP (short for Redistricting Majority Project) is a project of the Republican State Leadership Committee of the United States to increase Republican control of congressional seats, as well as state legislatures, largely through manipulating electoral district boundaries."

Essentially cheating. FPTP is generally cheating, in my view, but manipulating it even more.

In the UK boundaries for constituencies are done by a commission that is not political. They have to generally explain their decisions and it's about having X amount of people, more or less, in an area put into the same constituency.
We can see the results of Redmap.

That is cheating. And why?

In 2014 they used this map

Republicans got 55% of the votes and 10 out of 13 seats. That's 77% of the seats.

This is what it looks like after gerrymandering was taken away.

In 2022 Republicans got 52% of the votes and 7 out of 14 seats, 50% of the seats. Far more proportional.
