I don't believe SSA workers (limited staff to provide benefits) get paid during the shutdown. They are like TSA, FAA, and other "essential workers", they are required to report to work but don't get paid until the budget gets approved.

Thank you, the essential SSA workers have a different funding source. Non-essential workers in SSA may be furloughed.

So for example those that administer benefit payments as mandatory funded employees would be paid.

Non-essential workers such as support clerks, call center staff, etc. would be furloughed.
