School shooting v. car attack.....

You kinda got it back-to-front. You want Freedom To, whereas the UK, EU etc.. look at Freedom From. So we look at Freedom From Violence where you're programmed to seek Freedom To Be Violent Against Violence.
Wrong. Tyranny doesn't have to be violent. In can come in small doses of legislations and laws that slowly burn away the layers of freedom. The whole purpose of the 2A is to remind the gov't of armed citizenry, that deters tyranny, which removes the need for tyrannical violence.
Here in the states, however, we have allowed that slow burn to occur, in many many ways, especially at the state levels. Our political ignorance and laziness allows politicians to do as they wish, with very little consciousness from the public (because most are to busy living their daily lives to give two shits) of their actions that burns away, slowly at our freedoms.

The second thing is, you're confused on UK guns. This has been explained a gazillion times on here, but it always seems to fall on deaf ears. If you wish to apply for a shotgun or firearm, then do so, nothing is stopping you. If you fail to be a suitable person, that was purely down to you and you alone.
Us Yanks absolutely know the red tape and restrictions of gun ownership in the UK.
Tyrannical government is an American exclusive anxiety. That's due to the indoctrination you go through in the US as you grow up.
What'ts the indoctrination and mentality your gov't wants you to have, this security and idea that the gov't has your best interest at heart, and your liberties and freedoms are never at risk?

As I said earlier, and in a different way, the 2A removes the anxiety from the public, because we have the power to toss out a gov't that no longer serves the people and the constitution and reboot said gov't if needed.

Good luck fighting any tyranny with your shotguns and long guns.
