And after the capture of Crimea, Russia solved the "first problem". Nord Stream 2 was supposed to solve the second “problem”, and after that Russia could start a huge blackmail of Ukraine, maybe even the capture of Ukraine, but now, if Russia starts a real war with Ukraine, gas transit through Ukraine to Europe will be immediately stopped, which will damage the Russian economy accordingly.
