The North Vietnamese/Russians were firing hundreds of SA-2 to get each of those kills. B-52s today launch from several hundred to a thousand miles away from the target and its defenses. Russia doesn't even have a fighter than can engage a target at that range and make it home. Russian fighters lack the ability to air-to-air refuel. The B-2 and the new B-21 can't even be seen by Russian air defense radar, the first warning you would have would be the bombs detonating on target.

Not quite true, the US lost quite a few A-4 and F-4 fighters to that missile.

And yes, John McCain was shot down by an SA-2.

Not sure what "maneuverable" has to do with it, air defense missiles operate by intercepting the aircraft, not by chasing it down.
