I asked her why she didn't stay? I told her that I had met many Russians. They were all extremely smart and talented. Why not stay in Russia?

She said that there was no future. She would rather be in America.

It was the local mayor who claimed it was “shelled” by Russians, it never was. It was a training facility next to the power plant that was set on fire by retreating Ukrainian soldiers. Local firefighters put out the fire.

Right now, inflation is at 61%. Think about that for a moment. Trumpsters on this board are wailing at mid to high single digit inflation, and Russia is looking at ten times that with no end in sight to how high it might go.

During the Great Depression, there is a famous photograph of Reporters in Germany taking notes on money. It was cheaper to use the money as notepaper than it was to use the money to buy notepaper. That is how worthless the cash was.

Before Ukraine is defeated, the exchange rate for Russia will be so bad that you’ll be able to buy St. Petersburg for the equivalent of a small hatchback economy car. Assuming you could smuggle a small suitcase of money into the country, since transfers of cash is impossible via banking systems.

And with everything getting actually worse for Russia, there is no end in sight.

Think about this. American and European built planes in Russia still need service, but they can’t get parts, so the planes will either be grounded, or flown in a dangerous state. Russian built planes can’t leave Russia, the airspace is closed to Russian Airlines. And even if they could fly somewhere, they couldn’t fly back, because with the banks frozen, there would be no way to pay for the airport fees, or fuel costs.

Russian flagged ships, well they are about to have real problems. No way to dock, no way to pay for fuel, and no way to do anything. Russian Sailors will be wondering how many years it will take them to return home to family.

The Russian Economy is collapsing so badly, that I wonder how the entire nation will manage to sleep on a steam vent. In a year, or so we’ll be seeing commercials about adopting Russian children through Childfund because they can’t afford basic things like food, and clothing.

Of course, attractive Russian women will be selling themselves as Mail Order Brides, or hookers, to the west. While Putin is telling the West to kiss his ass, Russian women will be kissing a different anatomical part to try and earn a little money to keep their families alive.

Its 15 years since I was in Moscow. It was still a backward place in those days. There was a gangster class doing well but life seemed a struggle for ordinary folk.

Maybe, I was in Russia about 13 years ago staying in a hostel and two Siberian girls were there in St Petersburg to get visas to the UK. They said if they got the visa, they'd not be coming back to Russia any time soon, overstay their visa, hope to get married etc etc.

One got the visa, the other didn't.

I would like to add that all my family in France and Canada are pure and hard-core democrats vaccinated three times with side effects for some of them but with the exception of my rich aunt in France who told them what she think of the no good democrats in the past , I avoid talking about politics with them but when they come to my house they can all see on the walls pictures of John Wayne and Trump in this way, I don’t have to tell them anything.
