Russia fails to pay bond holders

The sanctions are starting to hurt. The first Russian default since 1918.

The first Russian default that the media ever noticed, is more like it.
Governments default on most all of their payments to others.

Defaults by governments are "infrequent."

So Biden and his groomer-crat counterparts in Europe want Russia’s economy to collapse. Which will do wonders for all the countries that rely on Russian natural resources and energy. It would likely trigger a global collapse and of course war. But hey, the important thing is you can all point and laugh at the bankrupt Russian farmer, while our farmers will be stuck without much needed fertilizer.

The West has a choice, accept rubles or don't get paid. Russia is willing and able to pay, the only obstacles are created by sanctions. The rest of the world understands that, the negative impact will be on Western markets. The Ruble is backed by real world resources that people actually want and need.

Why would Russia want to pay debt money back to countries that are trying to collapse its economy using sanctions and a proxy war to bring down the government?
Yet Russia is willing to pay, at least outwardly. This move by the West degrades faith in their institutions. Every country in the world now understands that a new reserve currency is needed. A currency that cannot block access to a country's own money due to the capricious whims of a handful of corrupt bankers.

Just goes to show how important it is not to rely on others. Situations like this highlights that fact.

A country defaulting will make others hesitant to do trade with them.

Like who? The countries that have sanctions and embargoes already? Though you Limeys should be worried, you have little to offer the world in comparison to Russian resources.

You gave me money, now it's a pay back time and I got the money to give it back but you are not willing to take it and don't take it. What must I do in a situation like that? FUCK YOU then, I say.
Doesn't the Bloomberg, The Boston Globe or whoever the hell find it absurd to call this thing a default?

Their fixation on Russia has grown absurd which an illegal proxy war by the USA war team headquartered in shrinking Ukraine.

Russia should put the money into interest bearing escrow accounts for the bondholders as a show of faith.

Yes of course you have, Chlorinated Chicken and McDonalds super size to keep the lard supplies stocked up.
More like oil, gas, coal, vast tracts of agricultural lands, lumber, mineral resources, and can match or exceed anything your country has to offer. The world is changing, the technology gap that insulated the West is closing quickly, and nobody is going slow down because Western bankers tell them to. That ship sailed when the West told Russia they couldn't access their own money.
