Okay, a few things.
As much as I would like Trump to meet his infernal reward, from a political point of view, Vance getting the job would probably almost lock his re-election.
Historically, when you get the job after the last guy dies, you almost always get re-elected if you seek it. - LBJ, Truman, Coolidge, and Teddy Roosevelt all easily won re-election. (Well, maybe not Truman).
There's really no indication that turnout will be better in the midterms. In fact, quite the opposite, midterm turnout is usually much lower than Presidential Years.
The Democrats will no doubt benefit from frustration with Trump's policies, but the problem they have is most of the districts are so gerrymandered you would need a massive shift to flip any seats. And most of the Senate Contests are in red states this year, including ones being defended by Democrats.

Have you ever known him to be quiet for that long? I haven't.
Something is seriously amiss. Maybe he had a severe stroke and his staff is trying to cover it up.
