So do I if the government elects to simply take on all the banks bad paper.

In that case I expect the economic collapse to come in the form of hyper inflation.

If the government, OTOH, elects to do nothing, then economic collapse comes in the form of a liquidity/credit crises, and in that case CASH IS KING.
