Kentucky Senator Rand Paul has said it would be a "terrible image" to use the United States Army to round up illegal immigrants as part of plans for mass deportations.

Seems like a good idea to me.

He's not against the deportation. He was specifically talking about using the military for that purpose.

There are a few problems with that. Firstly, it's against the law. Posse Comitatus is there for a reason. Secondly, once you go in that direction, there's no going back. It sets a precedent that could easily be used against you, when the wrong people get in power.

Based on every post I've ever read of yours, you seem to WANT an authoritarian police state type of government. What you don't seem to understand is that the power you want to give the government just because you think they are your friend (when an R is in power) is not going to be relinquished once those who are not your friend are in power.

I've brought this up on other threads, but in case it needs to be repeated... the whole border fiasco was by design, created in order to be used as a pretext for ushering in their authoritarian policies and moving us toward a surveillance society. I'm going to copy-paste what I posted on another thread.

Problem - Reaction - Solution.

The Problem - millions of illegals continually flowing into this country.

The Reaction - Outrage, fear, people crying out to the government to "do something!"

The "Solution" - the government "coming to the rescue" with the Orwellian policies which was their agenda in the first place. They just needed a pretext.

If YOU want to live in surveillance society police state where there is constant monitoring and biometric tracking and the continual destruction of our Bill of Rights under the guise of "security".... then as I've mentioned to you on other threads.... maybe North Korea would be the perfect place for you to relocate to?

While I agree that illegals should be deported, I don't agree with trading liberty for "security", which btw, was what our founders warned us about. There's no doubt in my mind that those founders would be rolling over in their graves right now, at how easily duped Americans are, and how easily they hand over power to corrupt traitors who will undoubtedly use it against them at some point.

Except we're not talking about protecting the integrity of the borders. That ship already sailed. We're talking about rounding up people within the US to deport them back to their country.

Posse Comitatus doesn't apply to defending ourselves against a foreign military invasion, but (although I'm no legal expert) in this case, it would apply to the military conducting domestic law enforcement operations, like going door to door to round up illegals.

On top of that, it was our own government who allowed this to happen. So who is really to blame here?
