Revisionist Hamburger thread

We have learned that the Hamburger is an American invention. Different persons claimed to have invented the Hamburger. Since its name is Hamburger, I assume that it was a German emigrant and not somebody else.
So, though it was a German who invented the Hamburger, we learned it is an American invention.

The Döner Kebab was invented by a Turkish guy in Germany. Though it was invented in Germany, we learned it is a Turkish invention.

I am very confused. What´s your opinion?
