We’ve all seen the picture. It’s the opening of the National Museum of African-American History and Culture, and George W. Bush is sharing a brief snuggle with Michelle Obama. The first lady, maternal and forgiving, has both arms around the former president, who looks like he wants a tummy rub.

This is where i'm going to take issue with a liberal OP, which I don't do very often.

I think George W. Bush was an awful president who made some very bad decisions, especially in his second term.

But at his heart, I think he was a decent human being. I think he meant well. I think that he went after Saddam because Saddam truly was a monster. He simply didn't have the policy smarts to make his good intentions work.

And liberals opposed him tooth and nail, even when he tried to do some things that they used to think were good.



And no, he didn't give us Trump. We gave ourselves Trump.

We were the ones who made no effort to abolish the Electoral College after 2000, leaving the possibility for this to happen again.

We were the ones who gave Trump attention (remember all the liberals who hope Trump would get the nomination because he'd be easier to beat than Ted Cruz or John Kasich?) because he was a celebrity.

We were the ones who accepted "They were both just as bad" and pissed away millions of votes on useless third party candidates who had no chance to win.

Most importantly, we were the ones who ignored the Rust Belt and its problems for decades.

So Trump may not be the president we need, but he's probably the one we deserve.

In 2008 the demoquacks had it all...and then bungled it away with Obamacare, an unholy social agenda such as transgenders in women's restrooms, dividing the nation with racism using groups like BLM, attacking police officers, fucking up an already fucked up foreign agenda even more, fining hard working Christian business owners to the point of bankruptcy because of a goddamn homo cake, getting people fired because they dare to speak on their beliefs that homosexuality is wrong, cramming political correctness down America's throat, etc, etc, etc

Fat Irish Sow, the people who were upset about these non-issues were the same ones who voted for McCain and Romney... at about the same percentages they voted for Trump.

Trump got less of a percentage of the vote than Romney did and only slightly more than McCain did.

Trump - 46.1% of the vote and 63,000,000 votes.
Romney 47.2% of the vote and 61,000,000 votes
McCain - 45.7% of the vote and 60,000,000 votes

So, um. No. The idea that the wingnuts who live in terror or sharing a bathroom with a trans woman are what swung this election are nuts. Even the Transphobic Governor of NC got the boot.

What swung this election was that too many people pissed away their votes on third party candidates, because the Media told them that a) Hillary had this in the bag and b) Hillary's e-mail server was just as bad as the weekly list of attrocities coming out of the Trump camp that horrified even Republicans.

Ironically, it will be people like you who will suffer the worst under trump's bad policies.
