Republicans - Specifically Speaker Mike Johnson - are Doing a Poor Job of Explaining What Democrats Want in Their CR

It's set up for low income people. To qualify you can't make more than 400% of the federal poverty level... FPL.

If there is no more payment to the insurer, wo is going to make up the difference?

Beyond that, it was a temporary program to begin with during COVID.
The cap of 400% was taken off under the American Rescue Act which expanded the tax credits. But then people didn't receive a whole hell of a lot of subsidy. Yes, it did help for the ones under 400% of FPL.

It says:
"The amount paid to the insurer is the difference between your premium cap and the cost of the plan."

I still do not see how this is a tax credit for the individual because it is paid to the insurer to lower premiums.
Premium $1500 per month
Subsidy $300 per month
Individual then pays $1200 to insurer and govt pays the $300 = $1500 total premium

Other factors involved include increases in underlying health care costs driven by factors like higher hospital and drug prices, medical labor shortages, and increased demand for medical services, including specialty drugs. Plus, insurers are proposing the largest rate increases in years.
Yes! Those are the reasons for high healthcare costs.

I said when they were lying about ACA providing savings that it wouldnt, because it did and does little or nothing to address those costs.

The "millions of Americans deprived" is a lie. Americans are not deprived, when reasonable conditions are set for government charity.

Another lie.

Americans overwhelming elected Trump and the Republicans to do exactly what they are doing - making government work again.
Bullshit

You claim that Trump was elected to do every crazy thing he wants

That’s false

He was NOT elected to double healthcare premiums

It is currently at 500% of the FPL and will be reduced to 400%. That is the increased subsidy. Of course, the people covered will have to make up the difference with increased costs. Those people don't pay federal income tax anyway.

Thank you, Captain, Obvious.

New subsidy would be less, meaning the amount paid to the insurer will less and the insured person will pay more out of pocket. That is what was designed into the removal of the increased subsidy. It sucks they will pay more, but that is the way they designed the program in the first place.

Premiums don't rise or fall by being subsidized by less or more. The premiums are the same; subsidies only change who pays them.

Americans who voted for Trump do not want to pay for the healthcare of people who crossed the border illegally, even if the autopen administration then gave them "legal status." Americans who voted for Trump do not want to pay for the healthcare of people who are unwilling to work or even meet a 20 hour per week community service requirement.

Most of that second group will not lose their healthcare subsidies or their medicaid. they will either honestly meet the work requirement or find some way to game it.

Yes it's noted in the link I provided.

It was raised 6.2% I think.

Yes that's what was temporarily increased and what all the drama is about.

ACA is expensive,
Health care quality has gone down
Cost has gone up.
Fighting each other, Blame the other party, wont fix it.
Maybe we should find out What Those who run our government have NOT been doing for the general population

You don't need to tell me what I already know. Tell these idiot Democrats who claim people are losing coverage because they cannot afford the increased premiums, which are only a small increase. The only people losing coverage are illegals.

Trump's cuts to Medicaid and ACA coverage are expected to significantly impact millions of Americans, particularly those who rely on Medicaid for health insurance...

The cuts are part of a broader effort to reduce federal spending on Medicaid and change eligibility requirements, which could lead to up to 15 million Americans at risk of losing coverage

Playing politics.

The cr keeps the lights on and then they can hash out hc in the appropriations process before the end of the year.

Schumer is fighting for his political life over a non starter issue.
"Playing politics" is better than my health care costs going way up.

But you're too stupid to understand that.

If you can't handle Trump's "bigbeautifulbill" depriving millions of Americans of healthcare coverage, you have failed to document how their coverage would continue.
