How about setting up low-cost clinics for low-income esrners, and instead of forcing other people to subsidize their premiums by $10,000 a year, give everyone $2,000 a year to pay for sore throat checks, yeast infections, UTIs, etc.

Since people will be spending their own money, they will be mindful of costs - and providers will have to compete on pricing.

Also, for catastrophic care, the govt pays towards a major medical plan, which are always cheap, but everyone will have to pay towards it in order to get the govt subsidy. It’s what my grandparents called “saving for a rainy day” - even during the Great Depression! - a concept that needs to be renewed.

All that is much cheaper than subsidizing these astronomical premiums that go directly to the insurance companies.

And nobody knows what the doctors and hospitals are even charging! That’s because insurance pays for it, so people don’t even ask. What a scam.

I had to go to the ER about a year ago, and about two months later, I received a copy of the bill (which insurance paid): I was there about four hours, and the bill totaled $16,000.

Theyre not though. All the subsidies would do is ensure the cost of Healthcare will rise at an exponential rate.

Just like the ACA was supposed to help subsidize healthcare for many, now they needed more subsidies. If this passed, in a few years, we'd be right back here asking for more subsidies.

The answer isn't throwing more money at it, its finding ways to ACTUALLY make Healthcare costs come down
