Republican Economic Policy

Representation Is a Re-Presentation of All Previous Elitist Tyrannies

Let the people vote on the most important issues. The majority in 1964 never would have voted for civil rights for the uncivilized Aframs, everybody knows that. Nor for Teddy Kennedy's "Come One, Come All" Immigration Bill. But those two policies created a majority that is against the previously successful American Way, so we have to have a civil war before we can have government by referendums.
Gallup, JULY 29, 2020

On July 2, 1964, President Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act into law. The legislation prohibited discrimination on the basis of race in public places and shepherded in the integration of schools and other public places, as well as making employment discrimination illegal.

Two months later, Gallup asked Americans if they "approve or disapprove of [the] civil rights law ... recently passed by Congress and signed by the president." While the majority -- nearly six in 10 -- expressed their approval for the law, nearly a third of Americans disapproved, with the remaining 10% undecided.

Tax cuts bolster the economy by giving more money back to The People (especially 'rich' corporations) who hire people and provide goods and services for a PROFIT. Spending cuts truncate useless government spending and thereby allow The People to keep more of what they earned by providing a smaller tax liability.
If what you say is true, Reagan's reduction of the top tax rate from 70% to 28% would have reduced the national debt as a percentage of GDP. I have demonstrated in this thread that the national debt as a percentage of GDP under Reagan rose from 32% to 50%.

Saying that tax cuts do not raise the national debt but that spending cuts do is as preposterous as saying that eating too much does not cause obesity, but exercising to little does. The increase in the national debt has been caused by Republican tax cuts for the rich, and spending more for a military that is the best funded military in the world, but which could not defeat the Taliban in 20 years.
Oh they Could defeat the Taliban, but they wont' becasue of political pressure from the commiecrats. You know this and I know this.

Your statement does not disprove mine. It does not matter if a CEO votes Democrat or Republican. What matters is what the CEO does to his employees.
No, someone posted that the Middle class was being destroyed by the Democrats, so YES it does matter how they vote. You are such a gaslighter.

You imagine it. I know it is not true. Trump had four years and the best financed, best equipped military in the world. He could not defeat a rag tag army of guerrillas and terrorists. Then he had the nerve to criticize President Biden for having the good sense to get out of Afghanistan. It is their country. They did not want us there any more than the Ukrainians want Russian soldiers in their country.

What I said was that it does not matter how CEO's vote, when they behave like cold hearted capitalists who value profits more than people.

Sorry bud, to win that war, the military would have to do things you don't want them to do........

But they VOTE democrat....hence DEMOCRATS are killing the middle class........what does capitalism have to do with this question, answer: it's a strawman from you. Noone said anything about that, so stop gaslighting.

What is social democracy? Gives us your definition.
Social democracy is an economic system governed by a representative democracy. Under social democracy there is a mixed economy with a well financed public sector that is paid for with steeply progressive taxation. Social democracy is the closest approximation to democratic socialism. George Will wrote, "Voters seldom want socialism, but they often want a socialist party."

With the possible exception of Switzerland, the ten happiest countries have social democracy, with socialized medicine. Most have free education to the doctorate level.

Happiest Countries in the World, USA Today, March 21, 2022

Finland was voted the happiest country in the world for the fifth straight year, and it is joined by other European countries in the annual World Happiness Report.

A publication of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network, the 10th edition of the report published on Friday ranked 146 countries in their overall happiness. Researchers say past data has looked at how citizens' trust in government and large institutions has played a major factor in a country's level of happiness.

"The World Happiness Report is changing the conversation about progress and wellbeing. It provides important snapshots of how people around the world feel about the overall quality of their lives," Christopher Barrington-Leigh, professor at McGill University in Quebec and a researcher involved in the report, said in a statement...

Here are the top 10 countries and their score:

  1. Finland- 7.821
  2. Denmark- 7.636
  3. Iceland- 7.557
  4. Switzerland- 7.512
  5. Netherlands- 7.415
  6. Luxembourg- 7.404
  7. Sweden- 7.384
  8. Norway- 7.365
  9. Israel- 7.364
  10. New Zealand- 7.200
  11. Europe dominated the happiest countries in the world list. What about the United States?

What matters is that the US military is another expensive government spending program that does not work. We spend more on our military than Russia, China, North Korea, and other countries combined.

There are two reasons we waste so much money on that useless boondoggle: military contractors are major contributors to the Republican Party; the military is the Republican jobs program.

Look around, who's liking the Dem economic policy of 11.3% inflation, shortages, sky high gas and food prices, millions of illegals flooding across the border, sky high taxes? Yeah, nobody.

In 1945 the national debt as a percentage of gross domestic product (GDP) was 114%. During President Carter's last full year in office, 1980, this had declined to 32%. It declined during the wars in Korea and Vietnam.

U.S. National Debt by Year

During this time the top tax rate was never below 70%, and was often much higher.

http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-soi/02inpetr.pdf

During President Reagan's eight years in office the top tax rate declined to 28%. The national debt as a percentage of GDP rose to 50%. It declined slightly during the administration of Bill Clinton, because he raised the top tax rate from 31.0% to 39.6%.

George W. Bush cut taxes for the rich again, while starting two wars he could not win, even though he had the most expensive military in the world.

During Trump's four years in office the national debt as a percentage of GDP increased from 104% to 129. Meanwhile, he could not defeat the Taliban.

That is what we get from Republican economic policy: a growing national debt, and a bloated military that cannot win wars.

When the national debt goes up and revenues also go up that oughta tell you something, but of course you have to cling to the same bullshit crap that the democrats spout all the time. When Trump cut taxes the gov't revenues went up but the debt went up a lot more and if that doesn't tell you that we have a spending problem rather than a taxing problem then nothing will. You are hopelessly enthralled to the tax and spend policies of the democrats, and clearly simple logic and reason escapes you in favor of ideological nonsense. Listen up - higher taxes and more spending has never led to economic prosperity and it never will. I'm done here, have a nice day.

Communism demonstrates that a dictatorship is an inappropriate government for a command economy. It does not prove that social democracy does not generate good results.
"Social democracies" always start well, then after everyones money is stolen, Communism must come forth to keep the slaves in check. When that doesnt happen, then death becomes a statistic.

Without a military , a country will soon be taken over. While i do not like miliary waste, i sure dont like the welfare programs that keep people from working for a living. Cut off welfare and soon there are more tax revenues coming in from people working, or people trying to steal other people property and those end up with a bullet in the head, thus removing unwanted criminals thus lowering tax spending. Win win for US.

Did GDP growth increase after Reagan cut rates?
What was federal revenue before Reagan.....after Reagan.

The problem with that model is:
One: Free socialized medicine sucks, it's just not good.
Second: None of them have any military budgets......lets get out of Europe.....Then lets see how they allocate money......say EU have fun, we gone!
Third: Free education is horrible in this country
Fouth: what do they pay for? Why make money at all?
Fifth: None of those countries has near the diversity
Sixth: None them share a border with the 3rd world
Seventh: None of those countries has close to our population.

"Listen, you’ve got a president right now, he wants full credit for an economy that he inherited, he wants zero blame for the pandemic he ignored," Obama said.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic Trump ignored, unemployment reached Depression levels. This is what happened to the national debt under Trump.
